underneath the stars
by the ocean on the sand
I will build a fire
then at midnight I will smile
and raise my glass in a toast
wishing a happy new year
to one and to all

POEM 106**
“Lose Yourself to Dance”

It’s a new year
so ‘lose yourself to dance’;
wild gyrations laughing
at hips swaying the air
in riotous tones
and happy feet.
‘Come on, come on
everybody on the dance floor’,
yes, even you
with those doubts and fears,
let me dance away your tears,
just ‘lose yourself to dance’.
~~~
I know the world’s a mess,
that we live in light and dark,
inner turmoil
of what we are becoming;
self conscious insensitivity
to atrocity after atrocity,
wondering,
have we lost our humanity?
~~~
As the world,
our lives,
teeter in this chaos
let’s   STOP!
And lose ourselves to dance.
‘Come on, come on come on,
everybody on the floor’;
bodies afire with rebel music
we won’t live their way any more.
Let’s dance in our gardens,
plant our seeds,
harvest a world
without their criminality.
~~~
‘Lose yourself to dance’.
Yes even you
with all your fears,
all those self-cultivated doubts
pass them through music’s prism,
a mirror of refracted life,
a pathway to hope
and our humanity.
~~~
Come on, come on, come on
it’s a new year - 2016
everybody on the floor
join me in rebellious dance!

First off: HAPPY NEW YEAR poets of HP!!!  A bit of explanation. This poem is inspired by several things all at once. First is reading a poem by Vicki ("in the savage garden") and I used some of her ideas in this poem; second is listening to this song by Daft Punk, "Lose Yourself To Dance" (the link is :  https://youtu.be/t-8rvk40qss ) hope you enjoy it; and third in a few short hours it will be 2016!!!  So I hope everyone enjoys the poem and has a very happy, healthy new year!!!

You have been given this moment in time,
To learn, to grow, to see, and to define.
Let not one moment fall to waste,
When the doors of gracefulness appear.
Life can be forgotten on the way,
And slowly and silently disappear.
But I bring hope along,
In order to make things clear.
So reach and learn,
Grow and admire.
For so little time is left,
And so much to do that's dire.

I hope that one day
fate will bring someone
in my life
with whom
i'll live my
"Happy Everafter"
Who will love me
when my face
will be wrinkled
and i'll be no longer
beautiful
who will have
to loudly ask
for his glasses
as i may not be
wearing my hearing aids
Who will just smile
and tell me
where my stick is
as i may suffer
from a slight dementia
and
who'll just hold
my hand and
reassure me
that it was just a cat
running on the roof
of OUR house
and there is
nothing to worry about !!

We leave this old year to a softly played tune, enter the new in a crescendo of sound
A million trumpets blowing, the throbbing beat of drums all around

We poets hold hand and encircle the world with our thoughts
As we leave the old year and welcome the new
As the brothers and sisters of man

Soon the darkness will give way to light as the new sun climbs high in the sky
Spreading the light of peace on us all as the world is born anew

So open your hearts and open your minds as 2016 is born
Bring peace and love to all mankind
As the new year begins its first dawn
I wish all my fellow poems a happy 2016
It's over, I'm finished, deaths already won,
Used only my thoughts, had no need for guns.
The body still walks and the mouth still smiles,
But behind these dulled eyes lies a blank, lifeless isle.

I know the difference between right and wrong,
Been in this game since when i was born,
Watched these movies and listened to these songs,
Even when am happy and when i am torn.

The woodland is getting empty each day,
Its today and tomorrow will not remain the same,
If they could speak, what would they say?
whatever it is, we are not to blame.

No matter the condition, we will produce a line,
It is in our blood, it is what we do;
the product of the woodland aids our design,
To some, this is sad but what can we do?
Just thought of how privileged we are to have access to the greatest source of our writing materials as writers.
