To the poets on HP,

I wanted to use this space to say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on HP. Whether you celebrate the holiday or not, we all have many things to be thankful for if we just take the time to look. I personally am thankful for each and every one of you who share your poetry with me and read and enjoy my work.  I am very thankful for all of the kindness I have been shown on this site. I appreciate it so very much.

I hope your day is filled with family, friends, happiness and many things to be thankful for.

There was a time
when I was numb
I was numb to myself
numb to my world
numb to my surroundings

Memories flash like an eclipse
across my glossy eyes
Perfume floods my nose
reminding me of when I could feel
and wasn't numb

The music lingers in my mind
replaying it's tones softly yet stinging
Each word having it's own meaning
causing a tsunami of feelings

I think of you
your touch
your smile
your warmth
your words

You rescued me when I didn't know I was to be rescued
You showed me how to save my myself
from my own being

I think of you again
mysterious
welcoming
yet; distant

I think of you and I
laughing
talking
simply together

I think of a certain day
the day resonating in my brain
the events pounding into my skull
and I think..
yes
this was the day you showed me
what it is to feel
and not to be numb
A man in the corner whistles a melody long forgotten, except by him

People walk by and continue their day without paying him any mind

Yet still he whistles

He whistles a tune that sounds so familiar that if I told you the name you would sigh relief

Ask him for the name next time you should meet

He'll be the one on the corner.

Whistling his solemn soliloquy
You know
I'm not quite sure
About the love of princesses
Satin gowns and evening *****

I've dreamed of it all for so long
I'm not sure I believe it anymore
Because all I found in the arms of a woman
Is hurt, heartache, and sorrow

But I have found the love of a brother
Is richer than a thousand kings
The arm of a friend
Stronger than a thousand warriors

It seems so strange
For we chase and we chase
Happy endings, summer love, and romantic kisses
And value love above all other ends

And love is higher
It overcomes all
Gives strength like no other
And is in itself an end

But what I am starting to believe
Beginning to find
Is we are wrong
About what kind of love we really, truly need.
The story of you and me is my favorite story to tell.
I heard you broke the cassino
I heard you made them pay
I'm sure that many
Lost their jobs that day

Now I hear you are flying
In your brand new Lear jet
Somewhere to the south of France
Hoping to make the set

"So how's my little girl now
Do you still remember me
Or am I now just your
Distant . . . memory"

We grew up with all of nothing
That you could ever want to buy
But on nothing' sake
We did give it a try

Now you've hit the big time
I hope you never fall
Your pedastal rising upward
Ever . . . so tall

"So how's my little girl tonight
Do you sometimes still remember me
You gave me your locket
I gave you my key

Do  you ever . . . remember me"

I want to softly whisper
incomplete poems
on your collar bones
that don't rhyme with anything
but your heavy breathing.

I want to bury my face
in the curves of your neck
because you smell like the winter clouds
and I've been gazing at the sky
since you left.

Missy
there was a time before when I could walk
I stepped among strangers on misguided paths
on roads unnamed
remaining cracked and broken
people hid their blank faces
steps incautiously taken
but there was one abnormal stranger
he lifted his eyes above the ground
and smiled at the unfortunate raindrops
then suddenly I was falling
he held vivid color in his eyes
life in his dreams
the world was dark and bleak
yet illuminated by his love
my feet have never touched solid ground since
and they never will
remaining to search for such reason
the reason his love can be shown to only I
