Shop fronts, curbs and pavements.
Bin men wear hearts on their sleeve.
Coffee shops, bakers and jewellers.
A homeless man searching reprieve.

Adverts and billboards shine bright.
The cleaners have swept the streets bare.
Commuters and tourists combined.
This city called London we share.

Marching to a steady beat
Marching to a steady beat

The pavement are veins
People the blood
The city the heart

Pumping the beat
Pumping the beat

To Us

To us a coroner is already a dead man
For he has seen the face of death and wept.

To us a priest is parent
While he does his best to comfort
He must honorably fail.

To us a teacher is a student
Learning from the young
All things
He was taught to forget.

To us a light is a light
If it can be seen
And that's a very good thing
To us.

To us life's a walk in the park
Through sometimes this stormy weather
But before sleeping on the dark grass
(Lepers that we are)
We send a prayer up to the sky
In wishful thinking
Maybe we'll wake up

Never wanted

I never wanted to be the kind of mistake that you wake up to the next morning,
Wishing you could start over.

I never wanted to be the girl you went to because you know she'll give you her time of day,
Even when you've never given her yours.

I never wanted to feel a pull towards you,
When I know that there's nothing on the other end.

I never wanted to do this with you because I know that once It's done,
We're never going to be the same again.

where your drinking habits only scare your cat.

Your heart,
it is light and pure and honest...
and mine,
mine is heavy
but unknowingly and oh so sweetly
you help carry the weight

And on Sunday mornings
when you awake in my bed and you smile, yawn, blink,
stretch or even just breath,
I think,

NO, wait,

I know,
I was born just to see the green of your eyes.

Your tiny hands are a compass
not because they point
or because they fit perfectly in mine
but because I will always follow them.

Let me please always be a warm bed,
a piece of peace,
a comfort.
Soft, safe and quiet and still.
Soft like my mother was;
with her hands caressing my skin
she could heal any and all wounds.

In whispers let me sing,
"I want to tell you how much I love you,"
as your lids slowly and softly cover your eyes

Storm

IcySky
I watch out the window
as the rain pours down,
watching as the droplets
roll down the glass...

I see a flash in the distance,
lightning not to far away,
followed by a loud crash,
thunder on it's way.

The storm coming closer,
as I lay down in my bed.
Thinking what it'd be like,
easier done, then said...

Of what it would be like,
to be a rain drop.
Who lives again,
and again.

Of what it'd be like,
to be a lightning flash.
To touch down to the ground,
and light up the sky.

Of what it'd be like,
to be a clap of thunder,
As small as a yawn,
or as big as a roar.

Of what it's be like,
to be a rainbow.
After the storm is gone,
to be something beautiful.

I wonder what it'd be like
to be apart of a storm,
from something harsh,
into something sweet.

But all I can do is wonder,
and listen to the skies,
for something amazing
to happen.

writing in blood is easy,
writing in tears is necessary,
but writing in smiles
is impossible,
it is taking a pen and closing your eyes
and drawing soft lines and shapes
and missing words to describe the inside
a happy poet is recognized
by an empty paper

flowy, fancy and frolicky vibe
I'm on top of the world!
confidence furled
full support, no hint of a gibe
a certain move through your thick brain, imbibe
my cocoon I've uncurled
heritage whorled
natural elation, no Prozac prescribed
Yet, twirls come to a halt
my smile fades as you drone on
It's all my fault
learning forgone
emotional assault
I'm done, you won
Quick turn of emotions.
