One day
We will have our time in the Sun
But until then
I will stand here
Admiring you from the Moon
Rachel C Apr 2016
I have done many exceptional things in my life.
I have traveled to far-away worlds with effervescent seas.
I have fought alongside rebels and mutineers: against oppressive dukes and deities.
I, so vividly, remember the times I danced on the tops of skyscrapers. Thereafter howling at the moon with my fellow gypsies. But more than that, I remember the gentle laughter of friends.
I remember the soft hands of those I love on mine, while the sunsetted on an entirely unforgettable day.
I find my grandest adventures after the sun has dipped down out of sight, and the moon has risen to illuminate my so out of focus world.
I find them as I’m hunched over in my bed.
I find them as my fingers are trembling over the keys of a laptop; the glow of the screen burning in my eyes.
As I rip post-it notes full of ideas off my walls and mesh them together, I become some sort of enchanter; thus beginning yet another journey.
Although I may have not truly gone on such adventures, the feeling would remain the same if I had. Because, as I’ve come to realize, the truest of grand adventures starts with simply a single blank page and the desire to tell an earth-shattering story.

You are a wonder,
One I can hardly describe.
Perhaps like the cosmos above our heads.
With galaxies burning in your eyes,
I trace constellations across your skin.
A smile cuts across your face like a shooting star,
Glittering, burning, a sight to behold.
Laughter bursts from your chest,
So bright and warm,
Supernovas fizzle out in shame.

You are a wonder,
one I will always hold dear.
Like the cosmos above our heads,
I’ll always look at you in sheer awe.
With your luminous heart
With your halcyon mind
You are a wonder
And you are mine.

I fall before an onyx sky
Sharp winds whisper anxious words in my ears
Freezing tendrils coil around my limbs
Along the horizon, a brilliant glow
A smile so bright it cracks the twilit welkin
I reach out for the light,
I feel the heat against my trembling flesh,
Warm eyes pierce through me,
Melting my chains
Laughter, so soft and easy
Muffles the whispers
I hold my breath, I wait for the pain
It does not return,
I stand on shaking legs,
Let the light absorb into my skin
Breathing life through my veins
I turn my back on the shattered pieces of the onyx sky
yikes
