I cannot sleep, my dear
You see, yesterday the sound
of waves crashing inside my
mind kept me up all night

I’ve been at war with my past,
and I failed to make peace with it

Now my bed is on fire and nothing
remains of my heart but the ashes;
I beg of you don’t ask me to stay
alive for another sleepless night

Lover, I’m weary
and I long to sleep
To the girl who kept asking me why I can’t sleep.

In your cold absence,
I have forgotten what
the word warmth meant

Perhaps you were
the word warmth

But now, you are
the word silence

I talk to you,
but you do not talk back
Ode to River Phoenix. This poem is inspired by the campfire scene from My Own Private Idaho which was written by River himself.

If my fate is to love you
From a distance
Then I'll burn for you
Like a star in your night sky
Bright, steady, reliable
Unwavering
Until the end of time.
But
Am actually hurt
But its a good pain
I shouldn't have expected more
But I still love you
Why is there always a but?

I’m drowning in this night.
Please give me a jot of joy
turn on the light
to spurn this blight
I’ve gone overboard
send me a buoy.

The only friend I hug
When am lonely
Is my pillow.
She knows my tears
My dreams-
That never come true
My happy times
My silly smiles when he texts
Or sings.
Now she knows my depression
All the things am doing
That I shouldn't be
That give me temporal comfort.

Sorry pillow, am lonely
everyday.
#depression #sad. Rough poem. Real one coming up soon.
