May the American poets, at Hello Poetry enjoy reading the following lyrical poem.

The Ragged Old Flag
Written by Johnny Cash

I walked through a county courthouse square
On a park bench, an old man was sittin' there.
I said, "Your old court house is kinda run down,
He said, "Naw, it'll do for our little town".
I said, "Your old flag pole is leaned a little bit,
And that's a ragged old flag you got hangin' on it".
He said, "Have a seat", and I sat down,
"Is this the first time you've been to our little town"
I said, "I think it is"
He said "I don't like to brag, but we're kinda proud of that ragged old flag"

You see, we got a little hole in that flag there
When Washington took it across the Delaware.
And It got powder burned the night Francis Scott Key sat watching it
Writing "Say Can You See"
It got a bad rip in New Orleans, with Packingham & Jackson
Tugging at it's seams.
And it almost fell at the Alamo
Beside the Texas flag,
But she waved on though.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville,
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee and Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew ******* that ragged old flag

On Flanders Field in World War I
She got a big hole from a Bertha Gun
She turned blood red in World War II
She hung limp, and low, a time or two
She was in Korea, Vietnam, she went where she was sent
By her Uncle Sam
She waved from our ships upon the briny foam
And now they've about quit wavin' back here at home
In her own good land here She's been abused
She's been burned, dishonored, denied an' refused
And the government for which she stands
Has scandalized throughout out the land
And she's getting thread bare, and she's wearin' thin
But she's in good shape, for the shape she's in
Cause she's been through the fire before
And I believe she can take a whole lot more

So we raise her up every morning
And we take her down every night,
We don't let her touch the ground,
And we fold her up right.
On a second thought
I do like to brag
'Cause I'm mighty proud of that ragged old flag

Labyrinth (Metaphor Poem)
forever in the darkened labyrinth
like a
mole
not able to percieve
an escape
hole

a lost path is his
constistent
route
aimlessly
wandering
about

the ill lit maze
of his
mind
stuck in a spot
totally
blind

twists
and
turns
turns
and
twists
leading nowhere
and this being Joe's plight
that's seen by the world
everywhere

Tarnished Gold
on reporters asking him probing questions
the so called good doctor Fauci
tends to become evasive
and very grouchy

if he's not afraid of being
indicted
any or all inquiries would
be happily invited

of full disclosure the people's medico
hasn't yet made
which bears a resemblance to an
underhanded charade

in time the complete story
will be told
regarding Fauci's tarnished
gold

Reborn
I'd like to be reborn
as a thoroughbred horse
so I can run around the verdant
Flemington Race Course

I've always fancied a three thousand
two hundred meter race
where I could gallop with an
unrivaled pace

the crowd singing out
isn't she a punter's delight
on winning the cup at
an incredible speed of light

Skeletal Hull
an onslaught of blustery wind blew
across the rocky cove
where the hull of a cargo ship lay
was caught in the turbulence of the rough sea
as it sailed to the port town of Dalmont
strong gales lashed the deck
and broke the rigging
such disaster befell the crew
all perished on that moonless night
with ferocity the elements
did conspire against
the ship and its hapless occupants
no news of where the ship finally rested
came to light until nineteen thirty five
a coastal surveying team
spotted the wreck a mile out to sea
the ghostly skeletal hull
sat askew on a rock ledge
in a small dinghy
they rowed
toward the shore
to make inquiry of the ship's remains
the only object they found
was the navigator's
sextant
The poem is of my imagination. It was written some nine years ago.

Webmaster
the webmaster is rarely if
ever seen at the
site
to fix things that aren't
working quite
right

the writers send him emails
about items that need
repair
but he doesn't reply to them
nor seems to much
care

the site hasn't been functioning
well for some period of
time
which has the appearance of
a negligence
crime

the webmaster must be
extending the length of his
holiday
thereby leaving the writers
in a high and dry
way
one hankers for summer's return
to again feel a warmer burn
the balmy touch shall so elate
basking in the sun's genial sate

oh depart gelid winter song
you've tarried around far too long
come back one's most favoured mate
basking in the sun's genial sate

in time one's yearing shall subside
on a change to the season's tide
one awaits until that choice date
basking in the sun's genial sate

one hankers for summer's return
basking in the sun's genial sate

Intent Of Hostility
inside the surreptitious
facilities
they're conducting quite disturbing
activities

were the greater public to know
what was going on at these
places
they'd certainly be wearing
very worried
faces

keeping the people in
the pitch of
dark
being the custom of the chemical
and bio-weapons
lark

some nations are presently developing
a stockpile of
capacity
that maybe used on a population
with the intent of
hostility
Loss lingers in the souls of the living
Sorrow's travails endless and unceasing
The sad anguished heart needing easement
From the pain that is so unkind of feel
Time's hand of comforting shall start to heal
Our beloved quickly taken away
In our worlds they leave the dimmest of ray
Their existence lies in our bereavement
Yet they'd wish for us to not keep stinging
So we'll recover from our suffering
Cherished memories of them shall stay
As we look to the heavens up above
They'll be smiling down upon us with love
Though our thoughts will be adrift in the grey

A Personal Minder Patrol
since this president took on
the chief's role
he's got himself a personal
minder patrol

these people attend to his
speech giving palm cards
and also watch if he wanders
off into other yards

no doubt he needs them
as his constant aids
because his mental capabilities
have a shortness of lades

heaven help us all if he inadvertanly
plays with the nuclear keys
whilst his vigil are preoccupied by
frivolous duties

The New Order
we the people don't know
what is going on behind the
scenes
where there's much well secreted
out of our sight
screens

were we to have ken
of these covert
plans
we'd be shocked by their
wide ranging
spans

would seem our knowledge has been
purposefully
obstructed
on the new order being
furtively
constructed

Conspiracy Theories
conspiracy theories
bring intrigue to the mind
and we've all come across
a few of this kind

who
what
when
and
how
the queries
we'll all make
is the information
proffered a mystery
like Mandrake

but
there's
a
rider
with
everything
and
worth
our
considering

on some occasions
a smidgeon of genuineness
can be found
scattered among the material
which is circulating
around

keep an open
brain space
and watch
for the iffy cue
this will better
apprise both
me and you

Night's Drape (Tanka)
as night's drape drew in
the last calls of birds were heard
singing a farewell
to another passing day
on dusk's dark shadow nearing
spring's warm embrace
caressed the icy countryside
spring's warm embrace
bought such a kindliness of grace
to the terrain's wintry bide
as a defreezing did provide
spring's warm embrace
on days when the wind
doesn't fulsomely
blow
nor the sun put in its
radiant solar
show
we'll be wondering where
our household power source did
go
for the new fangled renewables
weren't dependable of electrical
glow

left permanently in the
darkest of
dark
without a coal or
a gas fired
spark
the politicians promised efficency
this being a ridiculous
lark

our lights were extinguished
by a poor energy
policy
that swept all over the world's
entire territory

Concealed
into a far reaching pandemic
the world was plunged
and to this point all the relevant
details have been expunged

somehow the panthogen
escaped its enclosure
leaving the world's population
prone to the exposure

still there's a lingering question
in people's minds
as to how the disease got out
of its confines

no satisfactory answer
has been furnished yet
which looks mighty like the gatekeeper
will get off with a let

one theory that was recently
put forward
said the virus leaked out
of the lab's unsecured ward

in years to come the veracity
maybe revealed
but until then much seems
to be well concealed

Our Flame Of Love
our flame of love
ain't going to be put out
anytime
soon
the flare will glow
stronger than the life
of the
moon

our hearts meshing
in the fire's light
as we hold each other
real tight

the burning won't
expire
we'll keep alive the
desire
of passion's lasting
pyre

our flame of love
ain't going to be put out
anytime
soon
the flare will glow
stronger than the life
of the
moon
The word flame, prompted this poem.

A Smiling Sun (Rondelet)
a smiling sun
arose to greet the newborn day
a smiling sun
beamed such gleefulness of fun
spreading o'er the land joy's bright ray
on making an entrance e'er gay
a smiling sun
leafless trees shiver
out in the gelid landscape
on this boreal day
no cladding save their branches
from winter's numbing coldness
oceans of blue hue
fringe coastlines of the world
in cerulean views

Socialist Tinge
a definite socialist tinge
has become embedded
in the Democrat Party's hinge
and few have taken notice
of its all pervasive impinge

from here on in Americans
must keep their eyes well peeled
as there's a rabid Vice President
who'll not be heeled

freedom of speech
and hard toiling enterprise
are things the leftists
so depsise

mainstream media is
the propaganda arm
and it advocates the dictum

Remember A Time
who of us
can remember a time
when our lives were normal
of chime

the advent of Covid-19
put paid to everything
whereupon we were ******
into a malady's ring

still mask wearing is
mandatory
so too quarantining ever
compulsory
and not to forget the lockdowns are
obligatory

on a pandemic occuring our
daily routines aren't set in stone
for we've got to be more
adaptably prone

the scourge of the virus
has been intrusive
it's affected the world's population
by being so disruptive

we all hark back to the days
of free movement
and we're looking forward
to an existence of improvement

Shapeshifting
the art of shapeshifting
can't be underestimated
as its a talent Joe Biden
has well cultivated

at one point of time
he was a moderate within the party
yet he's currently exhibiting
a more radical propensity

the morphing from one idendity to
another is quite an accomplishment
and he's excelled in this particular
switching achievement

it is reminiscent of a

they blocked the sun's bright ray
cheerless their display

The Left's Ideal
the world is fast succumbing
to the left's ideal
for no other has a more
universial appeal

throngs and throngs of people
can't resist the left's message
as it is possessed of the strongest
kind of carriage

shortly the right side shall be
completely obsolete
for no one will be requiring
its once time honoured concrete

the left's take over is rapidly
taking place
and as it does we'll have it staring
us directly in the face
