She's a girl with daddy issues
Save the the tears & the tissues

She ended up getting used & abused
Looking for a daddy that was supposed to be you

He kissed her neck & choked her
Said he loves her then deep stroked her

Day & night knocking on every door
Hoping one day she'd knock on yours

But there was never an answer
Clear high heels, she became a dancer

Nose ran from the blow
Dripping, she liked to watch the blood flow

This time she went the farthest she could soar
Ripping deep into her veins, letting it pour

This was pain she couldn't stop
Dying to be somebody she's not

She laid there, left to bleed

One... Two... Three...
As she whispers, *“Daddy please rescue me”
Inspired.

I hate being
awake.
And when I'm
awake
I hate being
sober.
And when I'm
sober
I hate being
*alive.
I know the pain you feel is deep,
your want from life is simple peace.
And though I cannot guarantee,
please listen closely, as I speak.

Presently you stroll alone,
searching for a hand to hold.
You feel your sorrow in your bones,
in harshest sun, you still feel cold.

Pre - dawn, however, is darkest night
that must be followed by morning light.
I pray you won't give up the fight,
the universe will set things right.

I know at times, it seems unclear
that happiness is always near.
But wholly I believe my dear,
someday soon, you'll find some cheer.

Such potential for catastrophe,
God couldn't resist the flipping of my reality,
The idea of such a beautiful chaos,
It was a temptation too much,
So he submitted to the Irony calling him,
And tipped it into tragedy.

Once I held you in my arms,
I loved you in my sleep,
above the traffic
and the circumstance,
above the slaughter of the sheep.

You made me sing at my guitar,
a grown man falling to defeat.
Now I cannot find The Answer
in the company I keep.

The game is rigged, we know it is,
in a hustler's *******,
the bank cartels
and corn-fed chicken
descend upon the weak.

I held you in my arms
on a precipice brave and steep,
above the breadlines
and the cannibals,
above the slaughter of the sheep.

You have me writing poetry
about landscapes left unseen,
you kissed the addict on the mouth
and now he's looking to get clean.

But the day is long, you know it is,
forgive me for sounding bleak,
a sucker for
those sad, sad songs,
and that chemical retreat.

I am not working on perfection
in a lifetime stretched and brief,
but I am working on a promise
that for once,
I intend to keep.

See, I've got a knack for giving up,
for feigning inner peace,
I've had my fill of oil spills
and the slaughter of the sheep.

You've felt it too, that burdened love,
the dead-end of familiar streets,
you lay down with him,
habitual ease;
lilac skin now a slab of meat.

The dignitaries come,
the friends you have to meet,
a compromise of ancient ties,
amongst the ******
and the thief.

Words are falling fast for you,
though I lack the skill to piece
all the fragments you paint for me
in this temple of disease.

The race is run, you know it is,
a pace we couldn't keep,
our lungs are full
of cigarettes,
our tongues of old deceit.

The Lie is out amongst the crowds,
but I have no time for war and peace;
I am slipping into
my lover's robe,
into your twisted sheets.

Once I held you in my arms,
I loved you in my sleep,
this wolf's disguise,
those bells that chime
at the slaughter of the sheep.
A spoken word piece. I think it works better when you read as you listen:

Bare feet standing backwards on doctors scales,
the weighing game; I can't make head or tails,
of how I'm here; dragged from my mother's car
Earlier at the charity bazaar;
I slipped & fell on the church floor, & now,
that's just a mere bagatelle anyhow.
Tonight, I just wanted to escape fast
I truly believed this was in my past,
but the Devil & God fight all the time
all that comforts me is a nursery rhyme.

And so, I sang: All around the pink spire
boys chased girls & ran until one did tire
girls & boys in boxes, the key secures
a bolted lock. True love always endures.

This is from a famous sonnet to which I don't know and I'm not allowed to know! For class we were given the title, the last words and the punctuation. Ten syllable lines. Fourteen lines. This is what I managed xxxxx endings given: sces, tails, car, bazaar, now, anyhow, fast, past, time, rhyme, spire, tire, secures, endures.
