She sat on her bed
looking out the window.

Hannah looked at
the fulling rain.

Her mother passed by
the bedroom door
and looked in.

Whit ur ye daein'?
Her mother said.

Looking at the rain,
Hannah replied.

Ye can help me
wi' the washin',
her mother said.

Do I have to help
with the washing?

Her mother stared
at her
Whit ur ye
waitin' fur?

I'm waiting
for Benedict,
Hannah said,
gazing at her
mother's stern gaze.

O heem th'
sassenach loon,
her mother said
and walked off
down the passage.

Hannah waited.

She'd was pushing
her manners close
to the limits.

Once upon a time
her mother would
have slapped her
behind for talking so,
but now at 12 years
old her mother dithered
and set her tongue
to work instead.

She eyed the rain
running down the glass.

She could hear
her mother in the kitchen
banging pots and pans.

Then a knock at the door.

Benedict no doubt.

Gie th' duir, Hannah,
her mother bellowed.

Hannah went to the door
and let Benedict in.

He was wet, his hair
clung to his head
and his clothes were damp.

Got caught
in the downpour,
he said,
shaking his head.

Hannah smiled.

I'll get you a towel
to dry your hair,
she said.

She got him a towel
from the cupboard
and he began
to rub his hair.

We can't go out in this,
Hannah said,
have to stay here
and we can play games.

He rubbed his hair dry,
took off his wet coat
and stood by her bed.

What games?
he said.

Ludo? Chess?
Draughts? She suggested.

Her mother came back
to the door of the bedroom.

Ye swatch dreich,
the mother said,
eyeing Benedict.

He looked at Mrs Scot
and then at Hannah.

Mum said you look drenched,
Hannah said.

O right, yes, I am,
he replied and smiled.

Mrs Scot didn't
smile back.

Dornt sit oan
th' scratcher,
Mrs Scot said icily.

Mum said don't sit
on the bed,
Hannah said.

Mrs Scot went
off muttering.

Where shall I sit?
He asked.

We'll sit on the floor,
Hannah said,
and play chess.

He nodded his head,
his quiff of hair
in a damp mess.

as the day ends
the girls walk along the dusty road
barefoot and singing a song from
the old country
carrying baskets full of fruit from the field
white and grey dresses glowing
in the hot August sun
cant you hear em singing
just like Sunday morning
just like a choir in heaven itself
sweet sound rhyming in Portuguese
their beautiful faces with smiles
as they walk in the road home
after the long long day
in the fertile field
picking fruit and filling baskets
time to go home
walk along the busy dusty road
back to the old town
be with their men
with a baby underfoot
how they gonna get the washin done
hear em sining in the late august sun
such a lovely sound
such a sweet sight
the girls walk along the dusty road
barefoot and singing a song from
the old country
carrying baskets full of fruit from the field
white and grey dresses glowing
in the hot August sun

Think of this one poor lad he was dejected. Always rubbin his knees and kneelin on spitters. He's really off of their gambit and they ruin his indecision. Land on he just rolls it up and leans along. Lift down he doesn't give it half an ounce; Waldo's all for one. Next he wishes he could hurry a warbler and the thing just flies away. His loss or he ain't even tryin. Face of the clock starts drooling and he knows it's time to roller up or start splashing. Kid lived for knockin people around it but he ain't never really been touched. Get's tired of wishin and washin, wants something real solid and soft. Sometimes floating up no doubt but there ain't nothing up there wants to just hold him and he's always comin back down.

He made it out just in time really. It's just mad how time flips. One minute you're drinking a lorry and the next your coughing up swizzers. Don't really mind being dejected but awful awful just list out your tentacles each with it's own name. Satisfaction. Cost. Worth. Shame. Horror. Splendor. Oh no you ain't no octopus darling you ain't no spider. It's six for you so crawl on that.

Slipping down the line it's hound houses to the left and a picture box straight above. Kid looks at his feet guesses it's time to get Suzy. Suzy's always reaping what lads waste and she gathers it up like yarn when it's knitted. I mean what she makes ain't goin in no gallery but it's cozy and will make you look wiser a hundred an 2. Take it off she's a shining racer with pearls as ******* and turns around you wonder where the sun went. I mean really this girls a knock out but she ain't nothing to hold on to. She'd sooner be in the air then stay one extra day with you. And you ain't even a losser like so many that only wanna hold her. If your stars be shining you may see her no doubt. One word, hard: press er shoulder down quick with your tiny finger or else just leave off her. Suzy walks with mister dejected and the season's on his breath. She steps over dead animals only once when there's people around. When the planet starts turning I mean really starts spinning, they mix together and cover everything like paint. Suzy and the dejected one splash your way and you're red, her way and she's glit'rin, roadway and there's accidents, but oh how they'll go on. Catch them in their proper form they'll be your smiling baby for you. Try to upstage them you are bound to be eating fat Lay's wrinkle chips and dippin them babes in ketchup wondering where have all the good times gone.
Their whiskers were transparent
Funny how I cut some
Fluffy their furs are
Oh those sleeping li'l ones.

Heat strokes each other
Not the negative one
Enduring the cold day
Pleading the sun to strike.

Eyes are stones
Luxuric, melted with every grip
Oh the cold breeze
Washin' their fears away
Mama would come darlings,
Stay put and let not the bugs bite.

DEAR PENPAL PEOPLE, 2:45 on WED 9-VIII-'23------

comin’ back here, meetin’ up
crumblin’ in a domino’s loop, when
order expires, we’ll be in this famine too
even on this sea deck, the army’s list check
all track of them names
what they gave me
clearly none match here
so what’s with the deal?

some of those bodies lack the means to tolerate
look at the branches processin’ its roots’ betrayal
if you don’t give in to death you give devastate
washin’ its trail, burnin’ on pale
instead of goin’ on this life to bail

letter in green, waterin’ hands hangin’ in misery
emotional swallow, a liquid to this numb thing
to him towards, wordin’ is a war
doubled reality
jump the war zone the freezing state bone
as you recall the real

some of those bodies lack the means to tolerate
drowning this pride is one’s own self’s defeat enslaved
if you don’t give in to death you give devastate
washin’ its trail, burnin’ on pale
instead of goin’ on this life to bail

those branches would come to rejoice
rejoice the tree’s roots and its crown
matterin’ some asphalt upon
upon which feet would come to frown
and they would soldier their way
soldierin’ their way into the crowd
like it’s the March of their lives
the life they would brink to survive
sheddin’ the fears that they bound
to cancel the love of a waitin’ wife

some of those bodies lack the means to tolerate
black eyes will come to nurse the rednesses’ space
you think you see his skin, when you see his stain
washin’ its trail, burnin’ on pale
he doesn’t want to know the norm
the serve of them flames, huggin’ them blades
not minding the storm
washin’ its trail, burnin’ on pale
instead of goin’ on this life to bail

I guess we compare ourselves to soldiers sometimes under the image of their strength to endure, but maybe what we are trying to portray is more about their struggle to put out that image of this strength: and with that we express their opposite side; so let me not :)
Hate of the nation
The population
Don't you know what your facin?
Still spacin?
Can't run away cause we'll keep on chasin'

Time to fight back
From the get go
**** holdin' back
Time to let go

We done with the peace
We'll keep fighting back
And never take ease

Hit you deep for the shell shock
Here's a beating from the helpless ones you mock
We aren't here to knock
Breakin' down ya door
Bringing out what we got in store

A hell lot more
20 million haters washin' up on shore
Spit back out from the ocean blue
Dark fantasies are coming true
About the day you suckers get the pay

Where would we be without the hate?
How would ever thing be?
No one would be pleased by a goofy fantasy
-Hell no

But keep it comin'
It's gettin' kinda funny
You must be jealous of  my money
And I'm not braggin' honey

I'll throw back whatever you give
I know your bite ain't even close to your bark
You should know better than that
Put you mouth in park

"Never more" says the raven
You won't ever find a safe haven
This hate is savin'

I stay bold
I don't do what I'm told
This anger is way hard to be controlled

And if it get's out
I gotta let it out
Come on now shout

Tis a gladness found in sadness
mostly pleasure
wince of pain
From an odor round the barroom
none the boys could e'er explain
Like a billowed line of washin'
after gentle fallen rain
Tis the wail of spring befallin'
on a barfly
oh ... the shame
~
Lo
there's homework
I'm the tender
to a list of things that broke
Ere the boss be sharing surely
words no poet ever spoke
Lazy good for nothing ******
paint the fence and fix the gate
You want a pint ... you must be kidding
Plow the forty ... 'fore it's late
~
Down the misty path of memories
thoughts of Kelsey's brew appears
In a vision almost godly
round a table rests my peers
And no memory tarries longer
forceful
clearer
sweeter
stronger
than ol' Kelsey pouring liquor at the bar
I sheds a tear
~
Summer sadness tans bare shoulders
to replace the winter's shun
And the kids each day
they greet me ... Morning Dad
YOUR IT ... then run
Lord
I never knew that Heaven
'twas the place beyond my wall
Till I heard my children laugh
while toasting mallows in the fall
~
Though breath of Heaven
washed the aftertaste
of Kelsey's from my life
And forever I'll be holding ... dear
new memories
with my wife
I am angered at the sign
that hangs atop ol' Kelsey's door
. . . NO BARFLIES . . .
. . . CASH RESPECTED . . .
~
Sure
His wife now runs the bar

Washed up on the shore
Cause I'm a sea shell nothin' more
I'm warnin' ya I'm foolish
I'm warnin' ya, I'm tender and sore

But I'm yearnin' for your moisture
For your lips upon this beach
I'm yearnin' for the future
Your lips leaven mine a tincture

I'm just a sea shell washed upon a shore
Hopin' and dreamin' and prayin' for the poor
Prayin' to God that you'll love me the more
Love me the more, washin' up on this shore

I keep secluded in voids
I don't belong in anyone's heart
My haphazardous thoughts consume me
I consume trouble
In the wind like game leafs in autumn
Worst case scenario there's no **** in my system
Washin' the dirt down with saliva
Always needing sativa
Always needing a woman but lust ain't helping me keep her

Today there was announced
the inauguration of a scholarship
in the name of my friend
and of my friend’s death

It’s at KCL. It’s for dentistry.

So if you want to know her name,
go and have a google
take a little look
and you’ll probably learn more about her than I
ever knew. It’s a Portuguese-y name
and a German-y surname -
you’ll know it when you see it.
I’m too ashamed to say it.

I – well, I have no idea why she has a German-y surname
I never knew she went to KCL
and had forgotten that she was a dentist
- assuming I knew.
surely I knew?

She was proud of her cakes
and generous in her making of them
for society events.
She was quiet in meetings
I think
or at least
I can’t remember a single contribution she made in them.
She was nice to me when I suggested I might run for president.
I found her kind of – well, nice. really nice. motherly.

and that’s about all I've got.

but I was ******* torn apart when she died
my world, it came away in shreds
nothing made sense
I had no idea how to move
let alone function
in my shredded, dissolving world

that was the tipping point, you see.
it was after that that I really stopped working
that leaving the house started to get too hard
and that I had to really
really concentrate to
keep my
hands mo
ving through th
e washin
g up

now
I work
I leave the house
and I wash up with ease
I wash up with aplomb
with pizazz
with an arrogant little swing of the hips to the music

But I am far too ashamed to go to the memorial to my Portuguese friend’s death.

I mourned her too much
or perhaps not at all.

She was very nice (I think)
and probably a very good dentist.
and I will let her friends grieve in peace
Audrey's lips wrapped around his teeth like a wrist watch. Toby could feel her savage love so much. Audrey pulled her thighs into the naked hollows of his underarms. If this wasn't love he couldn't tell. How long they had wondered what closeness felt like. Audrey had to say: "My lover, I need to know the sexiness of your intimacy a lot." Toby answered, "Me too." That day Audrey became impregnated big time. Would anyone notice in 8 months? Toby might, especially if he ran into Audrey's pregnancy doctor.
Audrey's uncle was visiting from New Mexico for a month. He was a kindly man whom Audrey liked. No monkey business with uncle Chuck. He was 100% normal. That's for sure. One morning when Audrey was rinsing her ****** uncle Chuck entered the kitchen. "What's up Audrey?" Chuck asked.
   "Just washin' my *******."
   "Big night?"
   "No, Uncle, just routine laundering."
   Their back-and-forth banter was casual.
"Today, I've got 3 appointments," Chuck mused.
"Hand to me my Kunta Kinte commemorative *****,"
Audrey instructed casually enough.
   "This one?" Chuck asked.
"Yes, thanks," Audrey said as she relaxed her **** muscles.
"Good-bye," Chuck said 30 seconds before he left.
"Good-bye," Audrey replied 7 seconds before he left.

Chapter 2, Toby's gay link to the Mafia was about to be revealed. Toby wasn't gay, not even a little bit. He loved women a lot. Once when a gay man asked Toby to marry him, Toby didn't hesitate to say NO! and the gay man knew it. Deep respect warmed the gay community as word spread quickly. So when anyone says that Toby's gay ties to the Sicilian Cosa Nostra Mafia were homosexual they're wrong, Mafia-gabage-dumpster-dead-wrong!

Chapter 3, Uncle Chuck's hidden secret wasn't that he was normal, 100% so and everyone knew it. But uncle Chuck had a hidden secret that Audrey must not find out about or her life would be irreversibly changed and it could never be changed back again.

Chapter 4, Audrey took L.S.D. and had an awful flashback to 1999 about illegal drug use. She had been shacking up with a man who respected women a lot. He saw that she was L.S.D.-free and self-lessly offered to her L.S.D. for free. She accepted it and immediately felt that life was enhanced by Hospice care in the long run.

Chapter 5, "His lard *** brought him down. He fell to the floor, not to the ground" was what uncle Chucky wanted on his tombstone that marked the muddy grave where he would be buried dead. It didn't matter, the seepage. Lee Oswald was corrupted by it and no comrade cried for months because he was a stinking, cruddy, raunchy, Marxist, Leninist, ****** red ***** Russian spy.

Sobriety is hurt...
Washin' away with evey drop into my soul,
I have seen your face and the memories of us in the dark sparkle of my whiskey.
So I keep drinking...
These sips draw a shelter of your face beneath my eyes.
In bounds outside sobriety lies peace.
And...
My lady love...
It's the only place I find You,

He saw that she was L.S.D.-free and selflessly offered to her L.S.D.

"Good-bye," Audrey replied 7 seconds before he left.

setting fire to malls, busting both my jaws, wearin' granny's shawls,

So when anyone says that Toby's gay ties to the Sicilian Cosa Nostra Mafia were homosexual they're wrong, Mafia-garbage-dumpster-dead-wrong!
