Take one child
add a Vietnamese dazed dad
with a dash of religious schooling
where teachers say
“ listen to this music
then avoid anything like it”
Of course he listened
( of course you would
as anyone of spirit should)

Turn heaven upside down
in a bewildering world
Out of the chaos came
the Anti- Christ superstar
So people named him
He embraced and reflected
their delusions

Authors of their own terror
they did not comprehend
that legends are born
from the mouths of dragons
Not the tears of angels.
Out of the blue
you wrote songs
that brought us out of the black
Reminding us of childhood
singing of lost souls
with a voice
like softly falling rain

new fawn is sleeping
moon colours on autumn leaves
his mother watches
Oooo…ouch.Oh God…never, never again
Oh my…this is the worst morning of my life.
Oh no.Someones in the loo .
Just have to wait.
Oh they’re coming out.
Wait a minute…I don’t live with anyone.
And where’s my bedroom gone?

The golden fawn
pauses to drink
A lazy dragon fly arrives
importantly
he ducks and dives
The drowsy birds
list in the sky
They seek the shadows
So do I
I live in darkness
without the sun
A moon concealed
Oblivion

night perfume flower
only lovers enjoy you
scent fades with sunrise
I left you in a distant land
The lost horizons
devouring footsteps
Each heartbeat another moment
of separation

My dreams are trysts of memories
My days are aches of waiting
I listen for your familiar voice
Hear only the birds and wind
We were forever you said
yet nothing remains

of stars and lovers
an eternal mystery
ancient history
Orange is a frustrating word
Nothing will rhyme with it
It’s quite absurd
But it will get it’s comeuppance
I’ll rhyme it to death here
And I won’t care tuppence
In America you cannot
save take one wild orchid
from the site of  thousands destroyed
by the diggers,
without prosecution
for destroying a protected flower.
It’s like the legal difference
between war and ******.

She was struggling with the bills,
the rent, against life itself.
The oriole sang,
blazing from the trees
like the sun itself,
then flew into the skies.
Her heart went with him,
and did not return.

lamp eyed snowy owls
thistledown flight
dark angels of night
guides of lost souls

with your fierce flight
to the well of dreams
where nothing is what it seems
and day becomes night

my flowers became owls
my arms became wings
I’m the bird that sings
the wolf that sadly howls

It’s the ancient law
so I will never let go
buried under the snow
forevermore
There are paths that lead to heaven
There are paths that lead to hell
Or you can wander off into the trees
and make your own path there

patti smith’s horses
lost on distant horizons
of crystal beaches

obsidian voice
seductively in this darkness
echoes of the sea

distantly calling
every night  I go to sleep
doves whisper her name
For her Christmas present
my five year old daughter
wants a piece of the sky
So on Christmas morning
I give her a beautiful mirror
that reflects her bright blue eyes
I’m learning to rhyme
I’ll get it right in time
Just wanted you to know
Ok here I go

She walked like a stork
right up to the dork
who was pink just like pork
I’ve run out of ideas

Pour the mulled wine
heat up the mince pies
Rudolph is coming
dragging Santa behind him

Santa is dreading
yet another workday
He wishes he could shave
and retire to Lanzarotte

Yet he has no choice
but to endure his job
Don’t be surprised
Have you ever tried
mucking out reindeer?

I pull the curtains close
No crack of light
to penetrate the dark
the endless night

Love is a light
you say
But I in darkness stay
in your embrace
How much is that doll mummy?
My daughter’s face
is pressed against the shop window
wistfully gazing at an untouchable princess.
Far, far too much of course

On her birthday I feel sad
anticipating disappointment
at the ragdoll in cute fleece clothes I made

She tears it open and her face
shines with joy in the blush of sunrise
She hugs it tightly
You can’t cuddle princesses after all.

eleanor rigby
with her makeup caked and old
she touches our hearts

the lonely people
gather around the fab four
and just let it be
I met a woman
who changed her name
to Real
Tired of hiding
behind a smile
she said
Got no man
she observed
They don’t like it
when I look
too deeply into their eyes

Scarlet, crimson, alizarin,
I name you flame
I call you passion
Your velvet petals growing
in spiral mystery
Embracing the bee
that sips her nectar
Dusty sparrow bathing,
a tiny puddle splash.
He sees the reflection
of an elegant bird.
My Aunt gave me a book of poetic rhyme
I thought I’d have a go I’ve got plenty of time
But for free verse I quickly pine
It’s a lot easier, you see

It cannot be named

risen from lotus
illuminating wisdom
manifest buddha
Rippling water
carrying random leaves
and bobbing dogs
eager for sticks

River of tides
rushing over gem bright stones.
Nurturing roots of trees
Twisting their trolls Universe

Ephemeral song
of a serpentine river
Endlessly flowing on
and merging with sea.
The path to the river
is flowing quicksilver
is moonlight and shadow
and leads to tommorow

A tawny owl landing
in the mystery of treetops
with it’s wings folded neatly
and it’s eggs nestled sweetly

An inbreath of silence
of hope growing quickly
Then lose it at sunrise
at the sorrow in her eyes
Serpentine river born from a spring
underground in caves
where the first human hands
bore fire from a lightning bolt
Deep in the rock there are diamonds

Rock shatters, blows to dust.
there are gems to be gathered
polished and set
into a necklace of gold
imagined
by mermaids of abyssal oceans
robin sings
sun rising in his heart
song quicksilver
in sharp morning air

There was a movement
upon the infinite void.
A new song was born,
and The Goddess arose,
black skinned and dread
The Immaterial One,
like a blinding sun.

She grooved a holy groove.
Made suns and stars and
useful things,
like drawing pins.
Created dinosaurs, inexplicably,
and strangely coloured birds.

She created woman,
who gave birth to man.
Her name was Diamond Lucy,
her couture was Juicy,
Living on the dark side of the moon.

With her panther eyes
she witnessed all,
but fell down the well of dreams
and lay there in despair.

A haunting tune,
The Spirit Of The Age said
“Get up love you’re not dead.
Ok, you might have made a few mistakes,
like woman doing 80% of the worlds work
yet owning 1% of it’s wealth.
(A doozy that one)
But you’re not a failure

“ And the Goddess created
Donald Trump”
was perhaps not your best line….
We all make mistakes,
O Cosmic Mistress.
Don’t cry, little sister,
try loving angels instead.

“******* “ the Goddess said.
A tithe of light,
blinding white.
Then nothing but a void
forever night.

Born of hearts deepest secrets
brilliant fame blazing heat
yet never burning
Deep mountain springs flow
into sensual rivers

Transforming in deepest night
into the shape of a man touched by Midas
Jasmine scented abyssal angel

Deep shadows in the place of eyes
I will take you to my bed of spider silk
Vision entranced, fire serpent sybilene

Embracing the lightning reflected
in diamond faceted eyes
We are storm and shadow
within one living flame

Shell cast up on sea shore
holds the first songs,
breathes the first words,
a mother said to her child.
They are lost in the silence.

Beach combers look for
flotsam and jetsam.
Teenagers with earbuds,
and old men listening for
lost beloved voices.

Silver-blue sleek ocean
Not a ripple upon your glass surface
On golden beaches I discover
fragments of coral,blue sea glass.
spotted shells,eerie twists of driftwood.
This treasure spills from my hands,
all the riches I need.
