Shell cast up on sea shore
holds the first songs,
breathes the first words,
a mother said to her child.
They are lost in the silence.

Beach combers look for
flotsam and jetsam.
Teenagers with earbuds,
and old men listening for
lost beloved voices.

Silver-blue sleek ocean
Not a ripple upon your glass surface
On golden beaches I discover
fragments of coral,blue sea glass.
spotted shells,eerie twists of driftwood.
This treasure spills from my hands,
all the riches I need.

Green to gold
Gold to white
Light to dusk
Day to night
Rise again
in verdant green
to life and love
and cold icecream
Starlight guides me
to the place where
you’re sleeping
I look up
and see stars weeping
Their fall to Earth
is a great misfortune
Wish I could be up there
like a second moon

Wherever you go
I am your shadow
I am
your half forgotten dream
your suppressed sorrow

I am a promise broken
a hidden room
in which you keep
dark memories
and evened scores

I follow you
My friend in darkness
I am your shadow

sweet shy in velvet dress
colour of empresses upon an innocent flower
she rules us with perfume
The silent forest
is soothing
within it’s healing peace
the unspoken words
the unanswered questions
of you and I dissolve
into the greater silence
that I find here
I like to spend time with horses
their silence isn’t abusive
I’m silver to your gold
You remained true
while I tarnished.
I never learned to love.

snowflake tiny dancer
your life is measured
in moments of sunlight
when you die they ask;
where do snowflakes go?
To the heart of diamond
to shine upon a lover’s hand
The night is diamonded with stars.
She wears indigo velvet
and a lace stole of clouds.
Then soft snowflakes fall,
debutantes of the Solstice ball.
Pirouetting to melt at dawn
in the warm embrace of the sun.
She kept silent
against the soap opera squabbles
and the poisonous gaps
between her parent’s arguments
She hopes if she is a quiet, good girl
they might love her once again

adrenaline rush

just a loco mosquito
the rush  sensation

sensation seeking
he’s rolling in broken glass
ecstastic pain
I gather wild fruit
and Summer flowers
for the long winter.
Harvested honey
for a spill of sunlight
in December.
What can I harvest
from our barren field?
Thistles, thorns,
dead roses.

I’m lost under these endless skies
and I follow the star path home
to a distant planet
that was my childhood home
Where panthers sing their silent songs
under the Autumn moon
and women weave a net of poems
to catch and drag you down
Where dolphins hold great mysteries
in coral and in pearl
Where gentle fae wish upon stars
for all the universe
The sea holds endless treasure
and jellyfish fiercely guard
Starfish shine to light your way
fireflies shine like stars
I would walk the star path
unto my distant home
So take my hand and walk with me
So I don’t walk alone
Starlight fell to Earth
melting into the grass.
It contemplated, burned
starfire light manifesting flowers.

Turned in it’s sleep
dark cosmic dreaming.
Brought to birth
as the seasons turned,
brief Summer flying

It unfurled,
starshine dying
into pearl,
as  the dog days burned
Starlight fades at sunrise
like the light in my eyes died
when I realised
you were a total prat

As stars move they trace poems in the sky
constellations of rhymes ethereal.
Many poets look to the Earth for inspiration,
to trees, ocean and meadow flowers.
Yet at night I gaze up at the night sky
and bring my children home.
Stars bear witness
to all that ever was
We see their long dead ghosts above
Just as the stars
shone light
that would someday meet the eyes
of children yet unborn
SerpentineSky Dec 2024
stars write poetry
never read or heard yet shines
illuminates earth
Indian dreaming
Your spirit guide weary
came to the wayside
the broken bottles
and trailer parks

The hawk wheels
She soars infinitely high
Reminding him
No-one can steal the sky
Storm coiling around me
my hair is a banner in the wind
tangled with golden leaves.
Birds are blown around
like tiny kites bobbing.

Thunder shatters the sky.
Lightning illuminates
like a flash of joy
on a weary day.
Storms are when nature
throws a fiesta holiday

The first peach ripened
on the young tree
is easily plucked
It’s velvet against my lips
the ******* of it’s delicate sweet juices

Some cream to pour over it
then we eat it together
Our tongues touch
it’s soft flesh yielding

Then for a single plum
with it’s silken bejewelled skin
I delve deep to release
the gushing juice
anticipating
fresh figs, persimmons, morello cherries

Summer’s gone
I’d only just begun
to feel so free
The earth of life
of light
Just you and me
moving,dancing
by the sea
where I found shells
murmuring
their mystery
Hopeful still
I search the sky
and see a lone white dove
circling eternally
SerpentineSky Dec 2024
sunflower facing sun
you never lose sight of him
you’re a faithful one
The sun kissed peaches
bend the tree branches
The figs are ripe
and the oriole feasts on them
Far away from here
a child sifts dry earth
to find a handful
of forgotten corn

Snowdrop tender
you have the strength,
the power of iron
to grow through ice

Flower of hope and endurance
your slender droop
in your bellflower dress
dancing over diamond snow
Tender green shoot
your optimistic push
through earth and stone
to reveal your magicians
startling trick
ruby petals, warm fragrance
and all the hope
of Summers days
Apples for crisp cider
for fragrant clove scented pies.
Apples for jealous witches
rosey red enticing.
Apples for fairgrounds
coated in jaw breaking toffee.
Lilith watches cynically
the robbery in Eden.
After all, she was the first woman,
and planted the **** tree.
The Crip dropped too much acid
The Blood had Ecstacy
The Blood said
“ darling let’s be friends,
I won’t shoot you
You won’t shoot me.”
Let’s put the kettle on…..
and have a nice hot cup of tea.”
