Poets dream, they always do
about the impossible made possible
within stanzas and words
they think they weave magic into routine
and move hearts like the mellifluous motion of honey
dense sweet and sticky
connecting one chest to another

Poets claw through the mundane
to find the shimmering light of drama
the stirring stick, with the tumultuous traits

They cannot settle for the norm
they find it deformed
for when that happens
they reach for toxins
to remedy
the normality

underappreciated-
most do not see her beauty -
their dreams pull them away.
some eyes burn from the midnight oil -
to them, she may seem like a hallucination.
others run too quickly to start a conversation.
a rare few wait for her -
they appreciate her beauty,
continuing the conversation in awe.
she does not live for the people of this earth,
but she provides for them no matter what.

The scent of my
favorite perfume
reminds me of you
this is one of the
many things
you ruined
like it was
one of your
wins

Why
Why does the proud still reign here.
While the humble is always abuse.
Why does the weak and poor here.
Keeps getting weaker and poorer too.
Why O God are you not here yet.
I know that we desperately need you.
You say in the gospel no one is good not one.
We all have fallen short before you Lord.
You are the only reason that we can change.
Only by your Spirit can we ever change.

The nights have
been somber around here
they are filled with
apparitions of
longing and worry

So I write poems
with a surgical knife
to cut at the wound
of my sullen cries

I should be stronger
than this
superwoman in reverse

the cobwebs come and
multiply around me
as if I were an
abandoned building
while the shadows have their
own wicked agenda

as I flutter around
like the milquetoast girl
from yesterday

I'm bullied by
quarantined nights
then saved by the morning
Sun of my resurrection

Put convenience over necessity,
and necessary dies.
It can be seen upon the moon,
in sad and disappointed eyes.
