Gorge

ryn
tears that run like a raging river...
carving into the skin and flesh.
herald the birth -
a gorge that eats into my heart.

see its wound...
look past its depth
and acknowledge the damage -
a beautiful destruction
that only speaks of
the unforgiving nature
of such salt laden streams.

laments that echo cries
of unbridled pain and hurt.
yet soothing like a hymn -
a sung and hummed
profession of loaded promises
and careless whispers.

a hurt that has latched,
etched permanent
and dissatisfied onto the heart...
a pain that knows no peace
because it’s known
limitless love.

Why do you mock me Orion?
You with your mighty bow in the sky. You reach with power and command the night. Renowned and revered with tales and epic on high. Your belt of three a guide to the lost.  And then there is me, trapped on this mortal plane with nothing but hopes and aspirations. I curse your name for I wish I could be up there. Be beside you and watch you pierce the northern star with your arrows. To dance amongst the stars in the celestial night. Amongst the zodiac to be welcomed as an equal. But alas, here I am trapped in pain and agony. Forced to wander the curse of man. Take me with you when I leave this place to your neon bands of light, flying loose into the black.

Not a kiss nor a caress,
not even when you see that I'm a mess.
Crying in the bed,
sleeping on the floor,
begging "I don't want this anymore"
Giving all I have,
giving all I can.
You turned on your back,
you don't even care.

Stay safe
They say
Yet
How to hide?
From the source
Of all danger

My mind

Churning memories
Whipping up dreams
Dancing jumping
Agonizing, laughing

How to stay safe?

A single breath
A smile
Your name
Lifts me
To silence
Beyond all

Safe
In the embrace
Of Your love

Space Lullaby

On the other end of life,
What lies behind the barrier?

Moons and skyrockets take wing
At mysterious, illustrious points--
Float in invisible streams of energy,
Channel a river that flows infinitely

Celestial bodies shine truths
Through the sheets that cover us at night,
Of rain, of snow, of rays, of things
That will never take flight

I feel tears in the far reaches of space,
They fall down my face;
Time erases them
Without a trace

Solar systems hold secrets
Cradled in their arms so tight,
Reading stories as we drift,
Lullabies echo as they lift

A voice breaks through
In the depths of sleep to say,
"What does it take to reach you?"

(Meteors fall
above the earth
flames ignite
the sky
and shower
our spirits
in everlasting
love
that will never
die)

Paper or Plastic?

They step in to
The local grocery for
the weekly shop.
A soldier in a
Green apron stands
Bravely, sanitizing
And passing out
Carts.
Once inside,
The shelves are
Almost empty in spots.
Customers who once
Looked full of emotions
Now appear devoid of life,
Going through the motions.
You touched a surface?
Repeat, "Don't touch my face,"
"Don't touch my face."
Check out time is here at last,
Thought there would be
Longer lines but
Not many people are inside.
The cashier asks,
"Did you find everything you need?"
With a smile as if pretending
"It's business as usual."

One lady says at least she found
Paper plates which was a
Welcome surprise.
It's our turn, and we are
Told we have more than
The allowed amount of meat.
(We only have three small
packs of beef)
And explain we are a family
Cooking in this week.
The sky outside is rainy now,
Should be a tornado warning today,
But there's no telling when
The world will end
(It's easy to be 'in our heads')

Experts write about all
Possible scenarios & outcomes.
Human minds do what
Human minds do in these
Situations...
"Paper or plastic?"

You're an afterimage
You shine so bright upon me

You're an inducement
Your eyes draw me forth

You're a vibration
Your voice shivers my spine

You're a compression
Your legs wrap about my will

Here I am now
My fatal sweet
Waiting to be consumed
