Rebel Heart
Poems aren't simple raps
About money or ***
Nor a contest
To see how many words you could rhyme
With time or chime or slime or crime
Like the crime I'd be committing
If I confined these words to such a small pool
Of what society deems poetry to be...

Poetry is a being
Born from freedom
Risen from the tides
Of emotions that ran so deep
It cut into a person's heart and soul...
So I guess I'm just trying to understand
When it became such a dreary concept
Taught in the confines of walls
As rigid and cold
As the useless rhyme scheme of words
Released into the world for a simple test
When in reality, poetry was meant to be sown with care
And grow into something beautiful...

The real beauty of poetry
Comes from the way
The letters dance and flow together
Into the head and to your heart
Binding us all together
Cherishing our differences
In the same rhythm it holds
The entire universe
With all its secrets
In the space between them
A response to a teacher RH and I had years ago that I found in the lost files of her (RH's) poetry journey... I guess at the time I, like the others, despised writing in general as much as that teacher of ours, but RH's love for it never dwindled and I hope it never does... Almost crying thinking about all these memories though it has nothing to do with the poem so before I turn this into a rant, enjoy and leave your comments below.. ~BM

It’s the real thing
I fell in love with her differences
But we like the same thing
Like walks in the park
Hearing birds that sing

This is a love that will never grow old
Want to know why?
Fate collided with destiny
Creating this fire inside

I have always wondered, “what if the sun exploded at night?”
Would we miss it when expecting morning’s clean sunshine?
Or is it a gift to the lovers who own passionate squalor at two,
To see the explosion happen behind, then reflected off the moon
The night tonight has been as warm as summer’s light.
Condemns the older couple lying on opposite sides
Love as hot as ever, yet colder than our future.
And blinded by the darkness that eternity resides.
this ones kind of a mess. fix or use as notes.
line 2 fix
after line 4, scrap or make its own.

I will break the fear of loss
And I’ll take the full moon
I'll be brave on the voyage
I am a young man
I'll enjoy everything.

I will know the unknown things
I'll change the world into heaven
I'll turn the darkness into light
I am a young man
I'll enjoy everything.

I will not ignore my duties
I'll smile at the success
Then happiness will come
I am a young man
I'll enjoy everything.

When I'm confused about my dreams
I will never lose my confidence
I don't wanna dispute with anyone
I am a young man
I'll enjoy everything.

Shaima
you
I needed you
so horribly badly that my soul began unstitching fragments of the reality we had, looking for you.
So madly, my ribcage was barely able to keep my lungs from breaking out, in search of your breath.
Will you forgive me when I choose the most utter simplicity in order to stay alive?
I swear I will return,
but in the meantime,
bear in mind that a drunken heart is way too heavy for a butterfly to carry.
