Dedicated to the victims of Grenfell Tower*

She stands amid the buzz of metal flies:
This obelisk, memento of the dead.
The sirens crudely mimicking their cries
As pilgrims in their guilt leave much unsaid.

A once sweet hive is now an empty husk,
Her armour was to be her Achilles' heel,
And as the cold grey sky fades into dusk;
I speak not what I ought, but what I feel:

Instead of words there comes a cry of pain -
A strangled howl and heavy sobs of guilt.
What can be said when words are all in vain -
Like rain, on this gazebo that we built?

While politicians bluster “Nevermore”,
We will remember them forevermore.
Will light remain intolerable -
one minute into physical death
Will the numen's that preside
o'er the living pass away , will the uncertainty
of black memories that shroud
the day abandon me , will the pang of death be
fleeting , will I possess the power of art in some starlit medium* ....

I laid the first curse
While eating wild Lotus seeds
Encased in revenge
To enthrone the power of greed

The second curse wildly spoken went straight through the heart
For the acts committed by one who crave riches
Were very arranged, cruel and dark

The third curse would spew the truth of humiliation
Unexpected violence the teacher
Blows tethered to ego degradation

The fourth curse and most deadly
I flayed the soul alive
With immense satisfaction took one last look
Into cold blue staring eyes

So what was sowed was reaped
Wealth, prominence and land
But death refuses to accept this as payment
And you must bow to his demands

The mind seeks to be
To express its worth
In metaphor and homily

And yet no cloudy day remains alive
Within your mind

As memories grey and overcast
Like a visionary dream once passed

You are awake
And yet your eyes
Are only aware of this present take
On life lived alive

No voice is meant to learn such things
Or to recognize these passing clouds
Which have long since passed you by

No cloud is ever exactly as remembered within your mind
What truth do you find in this? (:
