A sense of belonging
Unexplainable and haunting
Relaxation, imagination
Magnificent creation

Each note pulls me in
Emotions so extreme
Time freezes,sadness melts away
No words describe it, nothing needed to say

An ambivalent world
Yet lucidly clear
Beauty in harmony
Truly sincere

Invincible yet weak
No darkness, no fear
The sound of music
Therapeutic, Majestic

My kitchen time ending, dishes drying in stacks
My family is telling me it’s time to relax
In the background are voices urging me to stay
So I pause, wait and listen for one more lovely thing
That my friends and family might say...

My kitchen is filled, with the smell of fresh pie
Made year after year, from old and new recipes
The air fills my lungs, with the smell of fresh pie
My mouth wants to eat every pie it sees

My mouth wants to eat like the child
Who experiences pie the first time in their life
My mouth wants to savor fresh aroma of pie
From the oven before cut by the knife
To boldly eat pie like the person who
Won’t let calories get in their way
To eat, through the night, and
Be ready for more the next day

I go to my kitchen when I’m good and hungry
I know I will eat, like I have before
My kitchen is blessed with the smell of fresh pie
And I’ll eat one more

I shared with you my favorite things.
Not tangable stuff like diamond rings
But things that showed you who I am
Cause you were harmless as a lamb

I shared with you my favorite movie
It became yours too as if to prove we
Were meant to be together all along
Especially when we sang that song
I could tell our love was strong

I shared with you my favorite book
We read together in our little nook
Our secret part of the library
And though at first you were wary
I knew it was you I’d want to marry

I shared with you my deepest fears
how loneliness had stung with tears
and you just held me in your arms
Threatening death to whoever harms
Me. While I fell for all your charms

I shared with you all of my heart
Knowing for sure you are the best part
Of everything that came in life
That with you I could forget my strife
And become your humble, loving wife.

You took from my my favorite things
I wish it had only been the rings
I haven’t watched that movie since
And when I read I always wince
Cause on my heart you left some prints
And that was my love you decided to mince

yes it seems you left some scars
Yet I’m not mad the blame was ours
To share because I made a mistake
And the worst decision I have yet to make
Is never saying sorry and just leaving you to ache.

Honestly,
I've exhausted "16".
So much has happened.
So much good, so much sorrow.
I've grown so much,
not in height,
but in strength and confidence.
Hopefully a bit wiser
and definitely more thankful.

Usually, I'm sad at this point,
but not this year.
I look back on this past year with a smile.
It was the best year yet,
so 17,
bring it on.
Sound of Music reference anyone? ;)
