Once when we were kids
Mum had fun throwing a dinner party.

I could tell because
there were stains on the tablecloth
but no one was crying,
and the food upgraded from sausage rolls to Sushi and Olives.

I want one-
-You can't, Mum  said they're for adults-
I want a Olives-
said the back of my 4 year old sister as she went to try the
New Thing.

The Olive was carefully chosen and examined with 4 years of culinary expertise,
swirled around a gummy mouth and
promptly returned to its post.

It was yuck -
she informed me and her breathless twin from the safety of the veranda
after weaving her way through the adult legs strewn around the Good Lounge without even so much as a
'woe betide you child if you're in here again.'

So we sat and thought about parties and Good Lounges and woe betides
drinking juice,
and watched our Uncle fill his plate with sushi and olives,
singing tonelessly to ABBA
before spilling his beer on the floor .

Alone
I have been
For all of this time

Angry
I became
For there was silence

But I
Mistaken
Consumed with terror

Could not
Hidden in plain sight

Enclosed
Your picture
Among the china

At once
I could feel
Your understanding

At last
I could know
We have each other

It's taken all of me not to read those faded old letters
I've tried with all I have in me, to take off the ring I got from her.
And it's taking just about all of me not to break in tears.
If I had a just a little more in me
Some sort of power to bring her here to me
I'd do it all the same, but differently
I don't want to forget,
But I don't want to remember goodbye as part of it.

I must be blessed,
Surrounded by benevolent spirits,
Guarded by angels,
Watched by my ancestors before me.
This life cannot have been the first time we’ve met.
Some never find,
What we have discovered in each other.
We are a four leaf clover,
A needle in a haystack,
A rare and precious taonga,
A treasured gift.
We are perfect,
Immaculate.
In you I find a comfort,
That sometimes wanders from myself,
You are my closest companion,
and I learn so much
From the way that you are.
We are sisters,
Blood is irrelevant.
We are weird sisters,
Queer witchy feminists,
Living by self-developed norms,
Rather than societal,
The value of which cannot be overestimated.
Together we cannot be held back.
We are perfect,
Immaculate.
I will float with you
In our next life also.
To my very treasured friend

They were the heavens daughters
they were of land air and the waters,
Artemis would nurture of all ascended,
Gaea would colour below with spender.

one would glance fingers on the breeze
where the trees would dance in ease.
painting the landscape in watercolours ink,
seasons did change and colours did shrink.

The heavens were moulded with her embrace,
a tapestry of what was her emotion gently graced.
emotions change and where clear skies shone
clouds ensued, her words were expelled and sown.

Each was a beauty of ones own eternal creation
every place was different to each ones application,
they changed all with each seasons exchange
each one that revolved a little thing did change.

This season was summer bliss as each painted,
nothing grey, all was of colours noting tainted.
butterflies flew and flowers did eagerly bud,
Larks did fly, tears did descend creations lifeblood.

Each did dance in the essence of  there creation
gracing there art in each pieces location,
You may feel them in the lingering breeze
smiling on deeds now done, on all one sees.
Dad and Mum share the love that I envy so much,
Nothing separates them because God purposed their partnership,
My brothers;
They're best friends who are yet to tap into their deep friendship,
They never run out of conversations,
Their disses keep me awake!
My sisters;
They're to die for,
Wrapped in innocence and filled with love,
There's always brightness with them around,
Never a dull moment.
Then me,
I'm just the girl blessed with all the love and drama and care I need in a family.
