She awoke that morning
saddened by her failure,
at the fact that air still moved
through her delicate lungs.
Alcohol lingered on her smiling lips
from last night's fit of sadness
and
cuts lined her forearm,
but still no one knew.
No one knew that the girl with the pretty
smile wanted nothing more than to end her
perfect
little
life.

She entered through the back bedroom window .
She said she had my key
When I foolishly asked her
"Why you crossexamining me ?"

I dropped out of the University
I got myself a steady job
Working part time on the weekends
It had benefits without the friends

Then I spent the coldest winter
Without any heat or bread
I microwaved Idaho potatoes
They called me "Tater Head"

Now didn't anybody see
Now was there anyone who cared
Sunday was just another Monday
When is a rabbit not a hare ?

Well I found myself another girlfriend
I was sure now of her honesty
I came home from work one evening
To find my microwave wasn't there

Now I could have sat down and cried
But I never had a chair
Just some cushions on the floor
Hot and cold roaches everywhere

Now the future was looking bleak
Winter turned to spring you see
A thunderstorm turned tornadic
Took my apartment away from me

Didn't anybody see
I'm sure that nobody cared
Sunday turned into a Monday
All I said was,"So there" . . . oh , my .

Potatoes, potatoes! They grow in the ground,

When you dig them up they're muddy, brown and round,

Potatoes, potatoes! Delicious mashed,

But they don't taste so good if they've been bashed,

Potatoes, potatoes! Steamy in their jacket,

Potatoes, potatoes! Fresh in their packet,

Potatoes, potatoes! Can be made into chips,

Potatoes, potatoes! Are best when they're crisps!
A poem about my favourite tuber the potato. I wrote this near the begining of Junior school.

When I see the word random
I always think of a potato.
But how random is it really if that's always the case?

Starting today when I see the word random
I will think of a potato
Clearly I am sleep deprived. I like this place though ;)

"A potato flew around my room
Before you came.
Excuse the mess it made
[It usually doesn't happen]."

I'm a little flower.
I am as delicate as the petals of a flower.
Tear me,
And you'll never be able to repair me.

Step on me,
You just lost a breathe of your life.

Rip me from my roots,
I'll die within seconds.

Spit on me,
Thanks for that one more drop of rain.

Make fun of me,
Look who's talking.

Little flower.
Bold heart.

One thing I know,
Is that if you cross the line,
I won't be that little pretty flower you knew.
I don't know. I didn't mean the look who's talking part mean. I just... Couldn't come up with anything else. Oh and who talks about flowers without talking about potatoes! Join the potato league #jointhepotatoleague and become an official potato!

Trembling,
you said to me
“Put the potato down”.
I examined the raw tuber,
clenched tightly in my hand,
like the first man
on a distant continent
to discover
this strange and ugly meteor,
with earthen smell
and cold rough skin;
it’s dead eyes staring back at me.
“Please, put down the potato”
I glanced at you,
wordlessly,
unfurling my fingers
the potato fell to the ground
in an unceremonious
thud.
