If the day ends and I no longer have the rights to myself,
Is it truly the land of the free?
Or is it only free to the straight white men that loom in offices and make laws on matters that don’t relate to them.
If I wake up tomorrow and see I can’t love who I love,
Is it really what Jesus said when he said love thy neighbor?
Or is thy neighbor only supposed to be a straight white Christian man?
A man who claims to live by a book written by other men like him,
Claiming stories of a man who loves everyone,
Of a man who said everyone must love equally
But why do these men not follow the simple rule from the book they revolve their lives around?
Is it that hard to love each other?
To love me?
A pained fifteen-year-old girl who wants to love someone and be loved,
Yet the rights of being a girl and the rights of love are ripped out of my torn and blistered hands and handed to the boy next to me who already has his own rights of living.
Is my life worth less than the next person because I might not marry a man?
That I might need to save my life by having an abortion after I’m ***** by the same men who claim they know me and my body?
At least my struggles aren’t as intense as my friends,
But is that a good thing?
No.
My rights might become limited,
But theirs might be truly gone
If the sun breaks the horizon and I lose everyone and everything I’ve ever known,
Will my home of the brave no longer be a home to those who fall into the categories of failure?
The work I’ve created, we’ve created, might be destroyed once the ticks of the tallies grow.

i'm on my way to school
and the sun is supposed to rise
the sun isn't supposed to stay
stuck,
half-risen
the sky streaked orange
and red
the sun isn't supposed to stay
the sky will streak blue
right?

Whisper to me secrets
in between breathless sighs
as we roll on the bed
in the quiet of the night.
Though the world is asleep,
we are awake.
As the daybreak comes,
so do we.
And when the saviour comes,
we won’t worry.
Your sins will become my sins,
my sins will become yours,
and yet despite being filthy,
we will feel clean.
I will shower you with kisses
full of love and passion.
When people ask me who you are,
I will say “she’s just a friend’.
Who needs to know about the way
we lie on the grassy fields,
holding hands and telling tales
of the other girls we’ve loved before?
Secrecy not preferred,
but how it is titillating.
Our secrets,
our sins,
our love
will be ours alone.
And I will be certain
that they die
with me.
And I will be certain
that the punishment
is well worth
the experience.

i have no lover
to hold or to be held

I'm queer
Are the words I held back
As I watched you go

And now I'm left wondering
What happens now that these words
Are ones you'll never know

that's just the way the body goes i guess
wanna mould my hands around his shoulders
through t-shirt and pyjama pants
wonder what the mirror shows him

that perfect mouth is smiling
do i wanna be him or ingest him
i wish that i could memorise it
wanna put my mouth around the reflection

kiss him everywhere until he sees red
hold his perfect imperfect face and
taste myself on his breath
take his arms or be held in them
i wanna feel and i wanna know
i guess that's just the way the body goes
everyone knows the waist / is just the way the body goes - mccaferty

I picture myself in a realm of love and grace,
With my beloved- away from this society’s ties,
I picture waking each morning in your warm embrace,
Share a deep kiss whilst staring into your eyes.

Our bond is an unspoken taboo for this world,
What’s nectar for us in their eyes is blood,
We want love nonetheless, but hate is hurled
The serenity of our love disrupted by this society’s thud!

What has my identity to do with love?
When all that matters is- he loves me, I love him.
What has my gender to do with love?
When all that matters is- she loves me, I love her.

Love is for the brave, not the coward at heart,
They might whisper, shout or even try to tear us apart
Love is for the brave, it’s neither profane nor sacred,
And ours is fueling the fiery pyre of hatred

Live with love- Live with pride!
Kiss me now, let’s rise and glide.
They’ll hurl their dogma, their hate, their lies,
From our burnt ashes, we’ll yet arise,
Let us break bonds from our chains,
Kick off the hate and rinse off our stains,

“Love is for the brave”
“Love is for the brave”
Love is for the brave not for the judgy cowards
