I've got a list of secrets
Secrets I treasured the most.
Like the face I make
when no one is looking,
Or the words I say
when no one can hear me.
Like the books I read
when I am scared at night,
Or the song I sing and listen to
when I'm alone.
Like the thoughts I hide
when my mind is screaming,
Or the tears I let out
before I sleep at night,
Or the fake smiles I wipe
after all the bad days.
All the things they'll never know,
Because I'll never tell, I'll never show.

Seeping into the twilight sky
Each hue seen, my love thumping shy
But what color must I enshrine
To embrace thy hand in mine?

A breeze whispers cryptic to me
Words of thirst my heart need decree
But what promise must I consign
To embrace thy hand in mine?

The loneliness surrounding us
A deep-blue question to discuss
But what person must I design
To embrace thy hand in mine?

Ladylove, speak to me thy heart!
Before my spirit does depart
My soul to live, it gives high sign
To embrace thy hand in mine!

Aoife
for somebody
i think about a lot,
i write about you
very little
and i think it's because
you're safer in these four walls
than on the frail fibres of paper.

you are the feeling i get
when i wake up
and it's sunny.
you are the smile on my face
as a memory takes over my mind.
you are the flower
that everybody trampled on,
but still grew.

i can't choose the right words
because i can't describe
how small you are
in a world as big as this one,
yet you mean all this to me.
you give so much
and take so little.
i am scared there will be
nothing left.

you're safer in my mind
and i know nothing can harm you.
i write about you very little,
but i think about you a lot.
that is not to say that the pages
are empty;
they are full of life,
sprawling with memories
and margin poems,
titled—
for somebody.

Do you remember
The evening sun setting on the brow
                         You lied upon with concern?
Not for the darkness approaching us but
The sigh you refused to disavow
For me! Let my heart burn

Do you remember
How the blanket under our weight soaked
                         With tears of understanding?
Not even the splinters and bladed grains
Of grass and the rocks ripping provoked
For me! Let our hearts stay stranding

Do you remember
What cheek the absent streams took to smears
When my eyes and voice did frown?
Not did the maiden's hand shake with wetness
But instead cradled the forgone tears
For me! Let my heart drown
                         For I deserve not thee
To my love!

We seek
To live the perfect life
And we choose not, therefore,
To believe God is gone;
Once upon a time
We searched for the answers
The fires took to sleep;
Atop the corpses
Countless roses grow
In a world where
Peace
Overcomes
War
In a world where
Bloodshed is common
Only in books
And security is found
In all homes
Harmony is the laughingstock
For the Devil himself
But sown to our coats is the desire
To live the perfect life
We seek
