Cold Glass
Stuck inside cold glass
Stands a slave to love, present and past

You know it all

All that he could find
Was the walls to a place he didn't belong to
That he could not mind
Now he spirals through the spaces
Many hearts within his suitcase

Go on

Empty and tired
Body and the soul
Cast down among the frozen trees
Blood spattered among the leaves

Crack a window, bring the cold

If hearts are made of glass
All that he is left with is the ash
A fallen, broken king with shattered wings
And no words left to sing

*What is empty was once a home

The Ghost Liners
Deep down below
Beneath the saline waves
There the Ghost Liners lay in rest
Submerged within their rust

The remnants of a forgotten age
Spirit ships adorn the history page
Now claimed by that treacherous flood
The Liners lay intertwined with the mud

The souls they carried were ferried long ago
The shell of the ship remains
Ripped asunder and buried deep
Somewhere off the abyssal plains

Betrayed by the very path they tread
No trace left of their honoured dead
Save for "treasures" scattered across the depths
A divers trophy from the past
A poem about my longtime fascination with shipwrecks.

Heavy
When you stumble and it hurts to stand
When your troubled heart clouds your mind
When the world and its anger bears down on you
Rest, for in time the stinging in your knees will pass
Breathe, for trouble yields to purifying calm
Listen, to the cool night air
That beautiful stillness will always bring you back again
For when life overwhelms you.

An Iron Philosophy
There are few things colder than the sting of iron
Splitting the skin
For charismatic words can be sharp as daggers
Handle them without care and they become shrapnel

So speak softly
And if someone's words succeed in making you bleed
Don't worry, just be and breathe
Let the passing of time make you bolder growing older
Never let the hate from others leave you colder

Forget purity, be as iron!
Such strange things as metal grow stronger as they change
So staunch a defence
That when the poison-tipped arrows of bitter words fly
And your enemies are poised to leave you bloodless in the snow
You need not fear even the strongest killing blow
Nor the angry shock within your bones

So speak softly and stand
For as iron you reside within the very land
Once fuelled by fury and the fear of those who would usurp us
Now risen up with potential and purpose

F.E.A.R.
Is it not curious
How when the world showers down upon us
Some call it rain
While others call it wrath?
How a simple split-second shift of perception
Throws us from the beaten path?
While some would recoil from a lowly bee sting
Others would rejoice for it welcomes the Spring
Fellow traveler
Though the world is not your oyster
Do not let that fact confine yourself to a cloister
Within your mind
Fears are so easy to discover
But fear is as fragile as it is frequent
For with time it takes to travel
Life brings opportunity
For the darkness to unravel
So seize it
And from your mind's deep dark chasm of caution
You will hover
For it is within the hearts of all travellers
The will to face everything and recover

Your hands cleansed my wounded heart

The Mirror
Take heed fellow traveler...

For inside the mind of every man
There is a saboteur
Wreaking havoc in your head
Filling you with dread

This saboteur is silent
Only you can hear its voice
Pounding in your senses
With every single choice

Do not lock yourself away
With a scheming saboteur
Or place yourself within its path
Or attempt to cure it of its wrath

You may think to follow it a while
That selfish saboteur
A word of caution:
With every mile, room, and tile
The saboteur holds your very soul on trial

While you suffer from the stress
Of trying to be your best
The saboteur is the one who stirs
Giving you no rest

However...

If you still struggle to seek it out
Or make this picture clearer
To learn the face of a saboteur
You need only find a mirror

Lover
Lover,
If I could explain the state I am in, my existence itself has become a sin
I know I could never remain here, while I am locked inside my own worst fear

Heaven itself is lost to me, for it is something which I could never believe
Yet you must not fear, must not turn to flee!

I do not fear the goodnight,
I have found more comfort there, than I have ever found in the light.
