Herds
at full gallop
across
verdant rolling plains

Rushing
rivers slither
rampant
to open watered seas

Astride
distant stretches
uproar
of oceans and waves

Plateau
oases stretch on
speckled sable blanket:
stars keep wishes fed*

will it ever be noticed
that hectare upon hectare
of grain fields pliantly line

countrysides in every nation;

but alas, they are only too often
overlooked... to far too many,
one field is much like the next...

well of ill-formed

people these days
are our solitary
point of reference

unless we're old enough
to recall 'back in the day'
to compare smoke signals

with cellphone signals; well
most of us can't even
speak or 'read' Morse.*

believing in something
is so much more than
choosing to not disbelieve

it means doubts, however
tiny, disappear into this
grand belly of trusting eyes

it fills you with the good stuff
when it's pouring outside
and your stuck indoors

eventually, the sun comes
back again; that, in spite of all
contrary and expert forecasts*

was it grafted interference
or was it incompetence
all this time, scraping moss
across unguerneyed pavers

each exercise a shocker
grating petition to the ear
a swinging fence gate
badly in need of repair

When we look not with our eyes
convince ourselves of impossibilities-

typical gravel turns into motorways
without tyres, we saw ourselves as cars

eyes glazed, paved speed of reckoning
just as rubber tearing at bitumen

convinced we will get to there
[that isn't here]
at trip's end, we find ourselves a typical mob

typical gravel looks like typical gravel
as we stoop out of that beat-up ute

our eye catches the side-mirror
stymied by our shoes that crunch

making familiar sounds on familiar gravel

Farewell, days of summer
your sweat stains remain;
and those fading tan lines

blend into a chalk-like frame.
Let's point to autumn leaves
to hide paleness, underneath

folds of warm, cloistering sleeves.
Maybe our winter's hibernation
shall blossom into sparkly spring.*

violent inactivity
propagates haemorrhaging
of intimate volition
where in this vast
savannah wilder-nests
quietly spawn and

nurse elusive bunyips

perhaps their scatted
clues shall direct us
back to serenity or
perhaps volatility
shall remain until
tomorrow meets today

Beneath wide sky where dreams are spun at noon,
The stars align to hum a gentle tune.

In twilight’s glow, the night will greet us soon,
While silver beams embrace the watching moon.

Each whisper shared becomes a treasured boon,
As hearts entwine, we find we crave for more.

In shadows deep, the weight of care can bore,
Yet in its depths, we find that love bears none.

In our quest for life, we enthrone the Sun.
a play on the term heavenly bodies

Sunlight looms with promise, on the horizon,
casting a dappled dream upon a digital page;
much for a proverbial cup of brew or leaf,
with cherry orb on top of a dollop of cream;
whipped before an envisioned, adoring public
perhaps, then the Muse would cast its magic--
a deserved attention endowed, for a token fee
for a free flash of light, earnest wait begins;
once between dawn and dusk an opportunity
to those pledged --that it will all be worth it,
--that mere humans do come to a poet's aid.*

over the years our site has gone from interesting to interesting... where it shall eventually lead to is a curiosity ☺
hellopoet Apr 2015
Once, so many years ago,
in a distant place and clime;
our thoughts and life we shared,
each move, in perfect time.

Words in unison, hearts pulsed,
so intimate, each gesture;
each expression, fears repulsed,
companions of great measure.

Now it seems we're worlds apart;
nothing more in common share.
The last desired thing to start,
to fray bonds beyond repair.

Tomorrow bears no sunrise
with correspondent promise;
about oneself, do realise,
quite a monstrous fate remiss.

This callow heart has not learnt
to let bygones be bygone;
from past flames this quill has burnt;
perhaps hope returns at dawn.

Beat upon this chest with song,
this erring mind do chasten;
free the earth you've held so long,
remind these feet to hasten.

Coal-bright heat
pulsates a primal beat,
this light burns white
in the squalid night.

The windswept fury
in a drunken flurry,
toppled kerosene lamp
leaves the table damp.

Morning slips in sly,
waking the bleary eye;
pollen grain breezes
peddles raucous sneezes.

drum ribcage

shushed and
sighing fade

there must be light still
at willow creek, though
I'm a million miles away

there's a reason for everything
though ours is still out there
what remains is your empty chair

this season of grief has lingered
seven years tarried too soon
an abysmal moment here; marooned*

if there be but two

on this twilight moon's

landscape, there might be

in a galaxy of its own

a hidden treasure trove

of good and loved things

that can be opened up

and relished each day!
