Spring grows louder here

Here where moss licks my toes and where the Earth breathes below
Torn through frost and fallen leaves
A golden and divine light that grows and grows and grows
Spring, take my soul, possess my eyes and bury me in soil
Do all of these things to make me a part of spring
where the night carries her silence,
her greys the bridging dome of sky,
her stones their blossomed ridge-

the moon’s half-circle bends
amid cloud, steps in
staccato, where the
stars can’t be seen;

i am less than the cloud
and the sky,
hardly breathing,
moon-ghosts in my hair,
moon-opals in my belly.

When I look into the sea
The dead of night midst new September
Staring back at me, I find
That I'm not scared
No, I'm terrified
The most humbling darkness is there. In the autumn sea, at night.

As summer leaves leap
Out of trees and river mouths
Broken stars reign down
Like a tripping set of stairs
Out of saturated clouds
A tanka which exists between the death of Summer and the passing of Fall. The rain, the stars, the leaves, and all which falls on all.

Old man in the night,
on the banks of the river,
carefully looks about,
no one must see him
in this deadly serious,
childish play.

In a white wax paper pastry bag,
he gently places the memories,
slippery feelings, a handful of tears,
an abundance of joy and a little,
lit tea candle.

Bending he delicately places it
upon the water, as though it were
some priceless thing and he sits
hands folded in lap, feet out,

on the river bank. watching
the white bag as it dims
and drifts away.

The universe puts her headphones on
And plays her favorite track
The raindrops in the meadow burst
And soak the earth
And with her feet up on the world
She smiles from ear to ear
And plays it back
What songs does the universe listen to? Is there a more beautiful sound than the rain falling in the secluded meadow. Truthfully, I don't know. But I do love the sound of these words as they roll off the tongue. YUPP!

BIG THANKS to everyone who liked, commented, and helped make this verse the Poem of the day (on 05/18/18). I really appreciate it! You can listen to me read this poem live on SoundCloud. Just follow the link and have an awesome day!

there
is
a place
to
behold
that
place
is
a field of gold
