In the space of a single day
It’s almost impossible to stay
Above the fray owing to the array
Of inconsistencies keen on inspiring dismay.

Sun shows up in the eastern horizon
And not everyone’s enthusiastic on
It’s cutting short blissful sleep, many a frown
Wrinkle up folks’ faces instead, an unpleasant situation.

Conversation’s a glass of lime juice served cold
Daring and unmitigated,brazen and bold.
One flies of the handle as one can’t hold
One’s horses any further, what follows is uncontrolled.

It’s a delicate dance, one where stepping on someones toes
Is a matter of certainty, notwithstanding the mores.
Only an experienced dancer,an old hand of sorts can leave a dance floor without having been stepped on,or stepping on someone else for that matter.
Jargon mouthed with righteous indignation
That can convince Lucifer to entertain consideration
Of jumping the fence, an act of treason
To his own beliefs cast in stone.
Interestingly, one barely scratches the surface
Of sense, instead clutching at whatever trace
Of reason to at least save face.
One soon realizes it’s not one’s cup of tea in the first place.
Courtrooms are battlegrounds where wits are
Stretched beyond their capacities, placed under the glare
Of powerful spotlights, no wonder
Most “learned friends” fly off the handle appearing immature.
Law’s on a league of its own
A lord unto itself, seldom bends, prefers blowing its own horn.
Law is a donkey.
#smh.
I made a child happy once - you failed to see it.
I pulled myself together quick after i was bullied - you failed to see it.
I was the top scorer once - you failed to see it.
I studied all night - you failed to see it
I stood up again and again when I was pulled down - but you failed to see it

I fell down once - you saw it
I took a break to escape my anxiety - you saw it
I broke down over my failures - you saw it
I stood alone not being able to converse  - you saw it

You only believed what you saw.
Hence, I wasn't surprised when you saw me as a failure
Parents just seem to see the worst things that you do sometimes
Words, do you use them to tear others down?
Words, do you use them to make others feel ****** about themselves?
These words, how does it not hurt to say these words to me?
These words, cannot be uttered by me because I know how much pain it inflicts.
These words, I never expected you to say
These words, I think about all **** day
These words hurt so much more when it comes from you, the person who I expect to say otherwise.
These words, that hurt me so much that I want to do exactly what you said. That is to die.
When your loved one says things you don't expect them to say to you. You can't help but feel so depressed.
You, you've got me drunk off love,
you're all I ever think of,
your soul fits mine as a glove,
you're an angel from above.

You hold my heart, my hands; both the church and steeple,
now I finally understand why storms are named after people.

You are my only and my first,
you're the water to my thirst,
my heart feels bound to burst,
and to think I once believed myself cursed.

You hold my heart, my brain and my soul,
now I know you can be both empty and whole.

I'm full of heat, oh I feel the burn,
and my only feat is to yearn.
I was in the dark, always in a funk,
you've left your mark and now I'm love drunk.

I was lost until you found me there,
you stripped my walls right down bare,
you shine so bright that you have a glare,
I'm a drowning woman and you are my air.

You hold my heart, my life and my mind,
now I understand how love can make you blind.

I'm full of heat, oh I feel the burn,
and I've been beat so it's my time to learn,
I was down and my ship was sunk,
and when you're around I'm always love drunk.

My dear you are my favourite drug,
and I've done a few and drank to chug,
so come on love, I'll hold you close,
I'll put you in my veins and up my nose.
It's the black and white memories,
the one's that we all try to hide,
but the more that's blocked, the more you see,
and you can't erase what's inside.

She tells her story, and it's heartbreaking,
while you say sorry you're both shaking,
you tell yourself this is real, but you're really feeling numb,
that's how you always feel when you're at Don's Plum.

She tells her fears to quiet mirrors,
and expresses her sadness and stress.
Through all the tears she prays someone hears her,
because it's gotten to madness and she's become a mess.

In the booth you're all laughing, sharing the old jokes,
but the cigarette smoke is masking your instinct to choke.
You think you're made of steel, but you know you're just ****,
that's how you always feel when you're at Don's Plum.

Every song you hear is nostalgic,
and it brings a smile to your face,
within the whispers is a hint of magic,
but the topics are lacking charm and grace.
And every soul that wanders in, is worse when they're outside,
for everyone is born of sin, but we sure all seem satisfied.

She tells you her story, and it's heartbreaking,
it all came before me and the choices I'm making.
You've lost track of how to deal, you say the issues are dumb,
and that's how you always feel when you're at Don's Plum.
Loosely based off the banned indie film "Don's Plum."
As the day is bled into the river
I watch the coming and going.

Place me in them
each one has a name like me
a home and a family
where their mind work laden
would have a heart to anchor
children to love and care for
a night to stir the fire
to burn all the bitterness
and be reborn the next morn
to shuttle one bank to the other
of the wide river.

I marvel at the chance
of meeting them once
suffering the absurd pain
of never crossing their path again.
