In thine bewildered mind, thou art as peerless as the bluest sky,
For great works of art have yet to transcend thy fairness, thy bliss.
Could thee be sent as thy true love with everlasting tenderness?
Your sole desire should end with me, for it is you on which I rely.

Never again should doubt arise from the depths of thine own mind,
That this could and shall be ours to hold true with great elation.
Art thou not content with what I hath provided without cessation?
Thou art truly stunning by day, by night, being undeniably divine.
Just convinced my teenager to write a poem!

~

A playful sun
  peeks over
   a slumbering
  horizon,
     tickling the
   dawn with
      daffodil giggles
  and flirtatious
   touches,
    awaking the
      new day
         with a smile

Just as I do
  when opening
    my eyes
     to see this
     same cheerful
   sunrise glowing
      through
   our window,
      illuminating
        my beautiful
          new day
            *that is you

It started when she said Hello
Over forty years ago.
She was the only one to do so I suppose.
My heart was twanged
And I wanted her so bad.
Still it pains me so today,
I couldn’t find the words to say.

All I got was unrequited-love sick blues.
I couldn’t eat a thing
For weeks on end.

At a party she sat alone,
Seemingly aloof,
‘Til someone else stepped in...

Hindsight says she didn’t like me anyway:
She criticised my teenage spots
And the way I danced.

I wasted so much time on her,
Spurning others for my senseless crush.
Giving up only when her long distance boyfriend appeared.

Since then I’ve always guarded
Against getting emotionally involved
Before being socially involved.

It has been said that I’m aloof,
Staying on the fringe,
Avoiding commitment.

You have to take that risk
They say,
There is no other way.

I’ve seen the pain that “Love” can bring,
Romantic songs I will not sing.
I’d rather stay here on the shelf,
Peacefully living with myself.

If only I could open my chest
And let you gaze upon it
Perhaps you could read
The only word written
On the walls of my heart-*

To make love is a wonderful thing.
An irreplaceable feeling of sheer ecstasy.
A man and a woman sharing their very souls.
An emotionally charged volcano with an eruption of love.
Literally a bonding of mind, body, and soul.
And, quite simply, emotions in motion.

You remind me of the earth,
   like deep burnt umber woodlands
mid downpours' fresh aroma
       & spring's foliage lushly reborn,
twinkling explosive pinpoints
       grazing beyond dark ether,
  sparkles dappling 'pon depths
        of eternal seascapes's nature,
amidst breath of relentless airy winds
    gusting above her majesty's hazes
       beyond purple mountain's apex
and streams of meadows' wildflowers in
  deftly painted horizons after moonbows,
vivid consciousness' uttermost reminisce
of all things recollected in the long ago
        essence of your memories' presence

Tryst
Pull down the kiss-me mistletoe, box up the decorations,
Raise not a glass of merry cheer to toast the congregation;
Look through the pane to fairy lights that flicker blue and red
To cast their light upon the white snow-laden garden bed

voices creep from wall to wall
down spiral stairs, down darkened hall,
down basement steps they coo and call
for innocence now shed

Pick up the bricks and colored pens, wash up pineapple plate,
Dust off the tapped untested phone as looming thoughts collate;
Gaze not toward the basement door, dispel it from your head,
Rest weary limbs to soothing hymns to right the world instead

shadows lengthen, shadows fall
to mirror blackened velvet pall
that drapes around you like a shawl
and covers you in dread

Put down the morning newspapers, switch off the TV set,
Unwanted stark reminders of a day you can't forget;
Avoid all conversations of a thing best left unsaid,
Withdraw inside where you can hide as evil rumors spread

*whispers linger, whispers maul
at senses locked in sharp recall
to try to make sense of it all
when innocence is dead

For Pax

I wander the sandy wastes and the deserts barren plains. They have their own stark beauty washed by infrequent rains

Each grain of sand an art form carved by nature's hand. Only the blind cannot see the beauty of this land.

Close your eyes and listen to the whispering singing sands and appreciate the beauty of the whispering singing sands

I wanna tell you a story,
Wherein I chose you and me
     to be the protagonists

We met while waiting for a bus,
     under the shed

Rain pounding on the sidewalks
The sky is a mix of blue and violet,
wind is whistling like a madcap

But the raindrop still reaches us
Our shoulders soaked
     we were so wet

And we glanced at each other
Meeting each other's eyes
     so we looked away fast

Silence...

You laughed
So I laughed

And we laughed our hearts out,
     for no reason
