Little things can keep me
Eye to eye to
when I knew that silhouette
this time dispite my compromising
Goodbye's really go nowhere
When we do, You do
Goodbye's remain, vivid, real...
The rest of your life
So I don't meet most
I'm no observer, nor outgoing
Far too nervous, introverted
I just walk on alone,
In a world far too crowded

If I look at this life,
At today, or tomorrow
Yesterday, I see what is behind me
I see your face, my smile
exactly the way we once were.
Still I wake up tomorrow,
another day of pretending.
This is okay, but inside denial.
more and more hollow,
the way my heart aches,
so I don't look for tomorrows.
I much rather turn around,
and look upon those yesterdays,
because right now, the next day,
they seem less worth while
They are as empty then
as they are now,
yesterday is worth my gaze.
back then was everything.
Another from a low point in life, when looking back held more than getting over it.

count thy words
like you count your breathes -
not!

the estimable statisticians
can estimate
the proximate number
of breaths
our lives will take,
the inventory of words,
we shall on average aggregate

we breathe recklessly,
never stopping
to slow down the rate
with which we tirelessly
consume ourselves

think of the
mess of words,
a brain store,
like a breath,
use it and then
purposeful lose it,
once employed,
nevermore,
so write often,
even longingly,
as in,
write long,
write hard,
every word expelled,
a treasure,
returned to
brother poets
for their
consumption and reutilization,
the monoxide,
of a shared oxide

when thy stock of
words in trade,
almost all used up,
perforce,
must write only
short little sweet nothings

well,
in happy desperation,
compose
alliterative allegations,
nonsensical noises,
aiming to pleases
summation of essential humanness

remain few breaths,
issue rhythmic sounds,
colorful grunting noises,
outed

one last intelligible poem
that cannot ever be read

I am from a town that told me how to walk,
Taught me to step lightly
So my foot steps would be soft
I don’t want to wake the dead
I was born in a town that cannot decide
Between sleep and insomnia
I nod along and watch my step
I shiver at night
This town has been keeping me safe
So they say
But I am restless with the evening
And the hillsides

Its early
to celebrate
with a mood
to congratulate!

Might as well
say farewell
to our past memories
that we tell

Lets start within
before we begin

Forgive and forget
our sins of the past
and make a new wish
to a start that will last!

Lets Boast with joy
and Play with our toys

Lets not cry or sob
but keep our job
while we focus on
the New York ball DROP!!!

All I want is for you to be happy,
I'll give you everything to make that happen,
My things, my life and my love;
All yours for the taking,
No matter how many times you cut me down,
No matter how much you hurt me,
I'll give you everything and anything that you desire...

Einstein's Relativity tells us that time slows at fast speeds,
So much so that it stops when travelling at the speed of light.
As you look up at the stars tonight think of this:
The photons that travel across the universe to your retina,
Are created in the depths of a star and destroyed within your eye,
In the same instance.

My father.
Old sailor.
Old farmer.
Old carpenter.
Old interpreter.
Old archive of facts
And history. He knows
Our ancestory by heart down
To the 1600s. Born 1946, 68 years
Old today. Bought me my first pen,
My first book, taught me English
From the age of five. Told me I
Had the gift of language and
Expression. And that I was
A stronger boy than any
Anyone had ever seen
By the time I began
To learn English.
I owe him credit
For every word
I have written.
Weak now
With age and
Bad lungs, I still
See him as a giant
Handling a chainsaw,
Smelling of forestry and
Gasoline and winter, smiling
At me with eyes deep blue from
Seeing more ocean and sky than I
Ever will know with my own.
His name to me is pappa.
After a few pints of his homemade
Wine, I sometimes let him beat me at Armwrestling. Then we laugh like
Old friends, remembering how
The roles were different back
Then. I am glad I stopped by
For a cuppa on this day. He
Would never ask me to.
Happy Birthday, pappa.

I'd cut a decade from my lifetime
To add a single year
To yours.
Yes. We drink his wine from pint glasses...

Keek Your Word

If you can't keep your word
And show up as you planned
Don't think that when you do show up
We should understand

Remember who the boss is
It's the one who pays the bill
So keep your word and show on time
Or we'll find someone who will

If you can't be there when you say
No show and drop the ball
Don't think that you can then complain
When someone else is called

It may not seem a big thing
With the loss of just one call
Until one day you realize
You have no work at all

If you can't keep your word
And show up as you planned
Don't think that when you do show up
We should understand

Keep Your Word
