Current emotions are like,
As, Bs, Cs.
It's like preferring tea but you're caffeinated by the idea of reality.

Current emotions are like,
Asking people who kept away from living.
If they are afraid of dying.

Current emotions won't let me explain,
How it feels like to be different.
Or somewhat unusual.
Always being the one to hear but they won't offer to listen.
Being left behind by the people who you loved dearly.

Current emotions is a pain,
A burden.
It drove me insane.
I can't even talk to my friends about the plant I have growing inside me.
The roots are deeper, grasping strongly.
No poison I could take to **** it.

Current emotions are tangly,
Like your earphones every time you place it inside your bag,
It's teary and wavy,
Like the paper soaked in the tears I had held on for so long.
Current emotions are;
Flattened.

Portrayed as the perfect family
In the stillness of the picture
The high gloss of the 8x10
Hide the imperfections of those who live there

Practiced smiles are questionably painted on
With a quick snap of the Polaroid
Which doesn't do the family justice
To what is really going on

You can put it in a fancy frame
Covered glass to muffle out the screams
Place it on the bedside table
Pretend everything is as it seems

But eventually the frame will separate
And the glass will shatter from it's own weight
There's just something in a photograph
That picture perfect still can't fake

Remembering those
from yesterday
Leaving us behind
in memories wake

Who's to understand
the tragedy of life
Only able to take
one day at a time

We will shed our tears
and spread our sorrows
As not a one of us
is promised tomorrow

The world is not petite,
The world is not a whole lot.
The world is I,
The world is you.
We beneath the blue appear like an ocean,
We flanking the blue appear like a sky.
For us, clouds in the ocean
Waves on the sky.

I told my mother I wanted to be an astronaut
And she smiled and said, "My sweet child,
If you go to space, you'd miss your years:
The laughter of your children,
The embrace of your beloved husband.
Better not waste your life amongst the stars
Once you are of marriageable age."

When I was nearing graduation
In the golden era, the high of the times
I wanted to venture out and learn more
For myself; I had dreams of becoming a hero,
A revolutionary mind, a change in the world.
Alas! My darling, he looked at me with love
And uttered, "But I will provide for you
And our children, in our pretty little house.
What of education, when you are
Of marriageable age?"

One time in a playground, watching
My young boy conquer the slide like a warrior
While carrying my newborn doll in my bejeweled arms,
My neighbor proclaimed, "Oh you are
The luckiest housewife in our neighborhood!
A rich and faithful husband and such
Beautiful children! How I wish
I were as favoured by fate as you were
When you were of marriageable age!"

And just today, while visiting nan
I sipped my afternoon tea, staring at the sunset
I recalled to her the missed opportunities
Of mine own personal growth
And she, rocking in her ancient chair,
She replied to me, "But what could you have done, my dear?
You were of marriageable age."

How can we dream by staying awake?
How can we get lost without being lost?
How can we keep a secret without keeping it?
How do we keep a dream burning?

All get lost but only some get to wander
We cannot keep a secret by telling someone
Just like how we cannot keep a dream burning
by being a living waterfall
"Then you grow older and that innocence is shattered and somewhere along the way the reality of life gets in the way and you're hit by the realization you cant be all you wanted to be, you just might have need to settle for a little bit less" this is a line from the book love, Rosie and it's just a perfect quote like it's an explanation for my poem. There are dreams that are meant to stay as dreams and nothing else.

as the swan dances through the sky
I whisper
'you fly in your freedom,
as happy as can be
and here I sit
wishing someone to set me free'.

and as the cage around me
erupts in flames
the swan answers
'i have freed you,
but never forget:
no one is ever completely free
it is simply imagination,
you see'.

I have this watch with no hands on it
So it never has to quit
As I've found out when it comes to life
That time is irrelevant

And that's what my watch reminds me of
With my reflection in its face
That all the time in the world
Is not enough if you don't live today

I check my watch quite frequently
And the only one I see
Is the only one of my concern
And that my friend is me

I'm now in the business selling watches
With reflections but no hands
To help those in need to realize
There is no time for demands

Take all the time that you like
This watch is custom made
With no hands but the reflection
To remind today's the day

Little by little I'm learning to swim
In this silent ocean made of endless drops
A drop, a memory, a fragment of myself
They surround each stroke, as I hope not to stop

The moment I stop, I'll slowly begin to sink
Deeper and deeper, struggling for air
Engulfed by dark waters I've tried to avoid
The pressure so high, it's something I can't bare

So little by little I'm learning to swim
Each stroke taking me farther, making me feel new
As I aim for the horizon of ocean yet to come
A single drop rains down, filled with a thought about you

One drop, that's all it takes, to disrupt my calm sea
Small ripples turn into waves steadily drawing near
Pushing me back under, with each passing ring
Each filled with you, who once brought me cheer

Little by little I'm learning to swim
We used to float together, exploring hand in hand
Now alone in this ocean I keep pushing forward
Hoping to see a new joy, waving from warm sand
