sky, a sea;
the sun is a ship sinking
slowly
into slumber

& i’m a seed
sleeping
on soiled sheets,

sproutless, seeking the solace

of silence,
the nascence
of night—
the delight

in drawing dreams from dust
to dusk into day
into divinity;
in withdrawing

to the wild and wondrous
womb of waking.

I uprooted the only thing that I've ever planted.
The blood of its petals falls lighter than my tears.
As if my emotions held no weight.
I know that I must move on.

But the hole of what used to be.
Left in a garden where beauty used to grow.
Feels so painfully empty.
Begging to be filled.

I cry into the hole
Where I know nothing will grow from.
I think to myself if maybe I would've nurtured it more.
But my thoughts feel so pointless.
My words shatter loudly as they fall out of my hands

I can't even cry in silence.

When the kettle
Has finished and boiled
And the Sunday eggs
Have been spoiled,

When the man who begs
Dissolves into the street
And the magpies
Squeak their last tweet,

Will they still need me
And will they still see me?

When the young boys
Have been found dead
And the obituaries
Have been read,

When all the red berries
Have sunk and wilted
And the groom
Has succumbed and jilted,

Will I find the end
And will I be whole again ?

If you should ever come my way , just pause a while and stay
For many years I have lain
I once was young and unafraid

Fearless was my middle name
Left my familiar land of green
To a far more desert land

No birds sang
No flower raised its head
For all was dead

We reached the ravaged land
Not knowing what we would find
Only a red thin line that stretched  and grew

Knee deep in mud and topped with snow
We knew it would be slow
Huddled together to keep some warmth
Amongst the chatter

Lonely voices wept
And the months crept
Still no sign of a end
I lost many a friend

When days are long and nights even longer
The dreams of home are all you have
To return is all you desire

But here I lay
On pastures past
In a country I do not love
Many more beside me
So stay a while and cast your mind to a bright summers day
When I was young and unafraid and
Fearless was my middle name

Don't be afraid, dear child,
This is meant for you this time.
Feel the breeze, feel the waves,
How the wind delivers his gaze.

Take it slow, it's all worthwhile,
These are yours, your heart's been kind.
Feel every word, that fill your lines,
The wind will bring back what's lost in time.

I've read the wind knows everything,
I've heard it blow away your pain.
Be still, dear child, lend an ear to listen,
Dearest wind will whisper you love again.

Such a little little man
playing his little little games
in a little little attempt
to control his little little world....
The usual power politics of the workplace...

when you sleep it's like you never cried,

breathing soft and steady, wet cheeks dried.

when you sleep it's like you never lost,

boundaries weren't broken and lines weren't crossed.

when you sleep it's like you're still there,

and you still smile and you still care.

when you sleep you look young as I,

no crease in your brow and no old worn sigh.

and so if sleep is death just being shy,

is it still so wrong,

to wish

to die?

Love
I want you to know
You are stronger than you think
You will be okay

Even with me gone
Hold close to our memories
They’re all you have left

Thanks for the flowers
And the bruises you left me
May they never fade

I want you to know
I loved you in so many ways
But I’m letting go

So goodbye to you
My dearest almost lover
My heart still awaits

Tied together in slavery
mopping the canvas with blood borrowed
by a palette that their master choses
withheld the right to bleed their color
they run like deranged halfwits
against their choice of a destination
or a chance to paint a different picture
whatever she choses we will but portray
However she presses us, we all shall obey
not a soldier out of line
not a spine out of posture
yet a mind unwillingly surrendered
to the hand of their tyrant captor
