You were broken when you were five,
It's no wonder you were struggling to survive,
When your only support is a crutch of self-doubt,
How can anyone expect you to figure yourself out?

You lack the tools to fix yourself,
So you tend to turn to someone else,
To hold and guide you,
Always coming to your aid,
You forget the loneliness you felt when you were eight.

But using people as crutches is naïve,
Because eventually they get tired and leave,
And now you're ten, but left again,
Struggling to figure out how to fit in.

People come and go,
But you become wiser and grow,
Soon you're sixteen and have loyal friends,
And you realize there's no point in trying to "fit in".

The years fly and you turn eighteen,
And realize time has floated by like a dream,
You've learned to be your own crutch,
And that you used to overthink too much.

But life has taught you a lesson,
That you cannot use people as your medicine.

Guns they sit, cold and still,
Until they're fired, then they ****

Knives are fine, whilst they lay
Until they're fired, then they slay

Grenades are shy, in their shell,
Until the pin drop and the life they quell

Ropes are good, they have their use,
Until they are used for a noose

Words are brilliant, truthful, not vain
Until they cause too much pain
Until they make you use the gun, knife, grenade or rope
So be careful what you say
But how can you stop?

and i am caught in an anonymous place
somewhere between healing and haunting
between numb and seering with pain
decaying and blooming
somewhere where the future
looks dangerously like an exit sign
and where the broken pieces on the floor
don't quite make a mosaic

You’re scared, to get ignored.
Scared she might not like you anymore
Scare she might move on
Scared of being left alone
You’re scared, but you take the risk anyways.
Why?
Because this girl,
Has a smile so beautiful and bright,
Her eyes take your breath away,
Her laugh makes your stomach fill with butterflies
This girl blows my mind away,
So I take the risk,
Taking the risk of getting hurt
Because I love this girl.
She's all I think about...

I read the words in this book now
but you're gnawing at the back of my mind
Always.
I had to put the book down
because the words on the page
were becoming intertwined
with thoughts of your eyes
and the crinkle in your smile
and the way I miss you most
when it's only been a little while.

Let me hold you once more;
these sheets are-
my Heart is-
empty
without you.
