Mood
Melissa Starr Oct 17
I am bubbling, as the soup I stir on the stove
Quick with anger, only I know dwells
Quick with the tempered fury of a wrinkled brow
Quiet the damper, let the billows out
Dam is flooded, I'm what's left.
Who is today when fury quickens
In mind, or conquered day by day
Simmering still, the soup is ready
I lay still the doubts of today
Making soup

Low tide
Melissa Starr Oct 12
I'm so sad. Like a 50lb weight that sinks to the oceans depth
Like my love for him swells and dips
That ocean current I'm swimming away from
It  is to lay on a white sandy beach and soak in the sunshine
Melting and rising with the sea's waves
Why is my path diverting from him?
What direction am I on now?  I don't know. It's the deep unknown.
What creatures watch closely?
Mermaids watching over me.
I shall sit and wait here. Til I rise , and sprint into the sun so bright .
And walk away from the ocean of us, of him and what I was with him.
I was lost and so sad when I wrote this. So confused and knew I'd made a decision to walk away from the love of my life. But to choose love for myself, that was what was needed at the time.  I had to  change me  what I thought my life would look like after our relationship was ended.

Stormy night
Melissa Starr Oct 11
Hear the wind
See the breeze billow out the curtain as I sit listening to soft jazz
It seems the music and curtain dance in the midst of it all, swinging and swaying
Sound moves all things
Or though they say

Thoughts meander with sound and light
Crescendos as lightning strikes the tree in the horizon
Light pierces darkness
Only to light the flame of the candle, once again in the night

Life
Melissa Starr Oct 10
With a hand motions to be quiet
Finger across lips to hush
That moment breath comes
God's breath in a whisper
To a baby
One breath to come
Not sure what led me to this, but I was fascinated with shush. And got creative with it.

Nature colors
Looking onward,
Sun sets the sky gold
Golden highlights on ember stones
As iron turns to molten lava blue
As the sun settles on the rise
Rose colored stones darken
Green brush lit a fire in the changing leaves
Soon it sets dark
Set the embers aside
To turn to fire again in the morn
Sleep now child
It will all be answered
I love the fall. And campfires.

Lover
You taught me a love like I had as I became one with the universe.
You taught me like as if I were the sky. Rays between, above as below.
I meet with the stars, as the sun settles and the moon blooms
Oh sweet prairie, let me lay down
In sweet scents and tickles on my face
Sweet love like a release of air
To be your breath
Our breath
The breath in between.
I long
For you.
I was on the phone with a boyfriend of that time, we were talking and a Sunbeam light refracted off my window pane and blinded me a bit. I had to get off the phone with him right away once the poem came to me. It's like that with me, it's like a rush of golden light that with the conversation and light, it forced me to stop. And get this on paper. And this is what came of it. I hope you like it đź’•
