Imagine the days
Spent playing endless charades,
With a ****** of crows
Holding court on telephone poles.
Flocking like the masses
To attend the evening classes,
Of a mystical educator
Renowned for his knowledge of nature.

They listen as he speaks
Of the glorious mountain peaks,
The rivers with their bends
And how nature always tends,
To invoke the imagination
Of even the most civilised of nations.

Cultivated in sin
Our society begins,
To crumble before our eyes
And with technology on the rise
Will I be left here to despise,
The remnants of my peoples glazed and absent eyes?

Technology has stolen,
Rampaged, ripped through, broken.
Conversations we once had
Now left to the distant past.
Why don't you ask me about nature,
the cosmos or the sea?
Why does everything you talk about
Emerge from MTV?
I don't care who's got the fattest ***
Or the biggest **** you see?
All I care for is mother nature
And spirituality!

Time
david o'neill Apr 2018
We sat there on the old park bench,
Licking our lips with a luscious lament.
She said not to worry
It's not the first time she felt this way,
It's not your burden to carry
Or price to pay.
I tell her I don't mind
I'll stay here till morn,
We can watch the sun rise
And shatter the dawn.
In the mean time we can map
All the stars in the sky,
Gaze with amazement
As they brighten then die.
For if my words are no good
And there's no deed to be done,
I'll give you my time
And a shoulder to cry on.

Eternity
david o'neill May 2018
Her hair falls in magnificent curls, framing her face with natural light.
The sun glistens on her cheek, reminiscent of a sunsets reflection on a river.
Her eyes sparkle with a playful disobedience,
Like a bold child she craves my reaction.
Her body forms an hour glass, like the sands of time she slowly takes my breath away.
As an angel calling to me from heaven, she takes me to bed.
We lay there in still embrace, reality melting as she strokes my head.
I love this girl with all my heart, to her I owe eternity.

Love Is The Answer
david o'neill Apr 2018
The man with fair hair
Trades his words ever so wisely,
For he knows that true wisdom
Should never be shared lightly.
He told me before:
“Impart your wisdom with grace
For it is fragile, the mind.
You should never speak in haste
Without thought to be kind.
See people misunderstand things
If they lack explanation,
They struggle to comprehend
So decide on an interpretation.
Which is not always right
Or what was meant to be,
Often losing sight
Of the grand mystery.”

For this mystery is eternal
It is written in many a book,
All religions share the sentiment
And have used it to cook
Their own manifesto
On what life should be
And how you should live it
To atone with divine energy.
From reading I have found
And believe to have understood
Love is the answer
To all that is good

Better Man
david o'neill Apr 2018
Infinite instants spent in endless embrace
Keep my heart warmer than a mid summer sun
Magnetic moments that I’m certain to chase
Call to my soul with reckless abandon.

My love for you is deep
Spreading like a vast expansive lake
Your secrets I long to keep
Honour bound to never break.
I radiate my longings and keep my cruelty to the min
For you I am a better man no longer to live in sin.

Raindrops
david o'neill Apr 2018
1
Pitter patter raindrops
falling from the sky,
Mesmorize my dreary eyes
for I would sooner die.
Than stay inside this hollow glass cage
As you begin to pour,
Shake me from these shackles now
And burst me out this door.

2
Pitter patter raindrops
Now you fall upon my face,
No longer will I have to wait
For your eager embrace.
I'm free to roam,
I'm free to laugh,
I'm free to love again.
You start to drench
But I welcome your scent
And know that true freedom shall begin.

3
Pitter patter raindrops
Now you soak me to my skin,
I hold my cup,
For you to fill up,
To the very brim.
The time has come,
The rat race run,
A new life to get underway.
I'll embark upon,
With journeys song,
A bright and prosperous new day.

4
Pitter patter raindrops
Falling from the sky,
Mesmorize my dreary eyes
For I would rather die.
Than be one of those people
who live by all those rules.
I'll carry on,
With my own song,
And to this I will stay true.

Lyric of the Heron
david o'neill Apr 2018
The Heron possesses nothing
but the freedom of its flight,
Into the great beyond
Where freedom has no price.
Majestic in its movement
Gracefully gliding by,
Gravity, an anomaly,
As it soars on through the sky.
The beauty of this bird
We seldom appreciate,
In my memory, I will hold thee,
Never to erase.
