It is the light that shines from within that radiates our soul.

i'm weak and timid,
just for you.
i'm head over heels,
just for you.
i'm already deep in,
just for you.

but who are you?
what do you like?
what do you dream of?
will that voice
send shivers all through
my body, even down
to the toes?
will that face haunt my dreams
while i think you deserve better?

oh lonely star,
when will you come?
to show i've always
been enough.
they say you'll find it when you stop looking.
you found me
in a second hand store
on Lincoln Avenue

you bought me
for nine dollars and tax because
you thought I was a mandolin

you told Tryone, the clerk
who would sell me into slavery, your
wife always wanted one

you took me home to your
twelfth story apartment; I discovered
your wife was gone many years

but her photo on the living
room wall got to see me, and hear
your lament:

you wished you would have
found me seasons sooner--but my
strings were rusted even then

my last song played at a bar mitzvah
before your hair turned white, before
your wife's many colored regrets

you played me but once and didn't
like what I had to say--you tossed me
from your balcony to the street

I made the same flight your wife did,
landed in the same spot; yes, I suspect she was
more a disappointed music lover than you
Thanks Lora Lee for your poem that made me look up oud.
Crunching crispy cornflakes
Gangs of pebbles bubble

White water slurping
Its early morning edges

As waves deliciously lick
their sweet vanilla sands

Man bobbing in a canoe
Ocean swinging him like a baby boy

A  bouncing ball stretches
Across the waters view

Like a picture on the wall
For a moment time stand still

The scenery seems so surreal
like plastic or cardboard

Adding a friendly familiarity
Making me so sentimental

About
a place

I LOVE

Called Home
One needs to drop into the imagery
those who say it's a beautiful feeling
to fall in love
have always been loved
in return

It's at the point of desperation that the soul finds its deepest desire,
and in that desire lies everything of which true life is made.
Perhaps the first and central question concerning surrender
ought not to be, “What am I willing to give to God?”
but “What am I willing to receive from Him?”

For it's only in the realization that I have nothing to give Him and
He has everything to give me that true humility and surrender come.
If I would simply receive all He offers me and let Him fill me up
I would have no room in my hands to hold onto anything else.
But how often it is that we won't receive it until everything else is lost.

It's the secret and inexpressible dreams of the soul
which are the hardest things of all to let go and the last to go.
When they are finally gone we have nothing left to run to but Him,
and when we do we find that He is the beginning,
the end and the center of every secret dream.

Ah, blessed Peniel—that mysterious and holy ground
where heartache collides head-on with romance,
that deep and shadowed land where we struggle
with God and with men and we overcome,
that painful yet glorious place which we may leave limping
with a wrenched hip but we do not care, for we have seen God’s face—
like Jacob, may we not pass you by without being forever changed.
Genesis 32

I want you to be happy but why does it hurt so much to see you happy with someone else
It hurts seeing you look at her with loving eyes because I know you'll never look at me the same way.
Those looks, smiles and touches will never be mine because I'm just the friend on the side line
It ***** because I know we'll never be more then just friends.
Come after me, O glorious Divine Possessor.
Conquer, shackle, and entomb my straying,
faithless affections in Your love once more.
Sweep me up into Your strong and jealous
embrace till my heart is fully bent toward Yours.
Have Your way with me until it is all I desire,
until You are all I desire, Lord Jesus.
Unveil me, uncover me and unbind me
before Your penetrating eyes, the perfect gaze
of You with Whom alone I have to do.
Awaken me until I am wholly abandoned
to Your pleasure, completely responsive
to Your touch, utterly enraptured,
enthralled and entangled with You.
Break me for Your glory, sovereign Lord.
Pierce my soul to its deepest hidden parts
and pour Yourself into me until You have
totally claimed me as Your own possession,
Your willing captive, until there is no delight
in my heart but You and Your delight.
O Holy One above, set me to burning!
Inspired by John Donne's Holy Sonnet XIV
Can you hear the voice of God?
Can you hear Him?
Whispering through the tall trees.

Can you hear the voice of God?
Can you hear Him?
Calling through the sweet song
of the chickadee.

Can you hear the voice of God?
Can you hear Him?
In the hushed silence of a
clear night sky full of stars.

Can you hear the voice of God?
Can you hear Him?
In the quiet flapping of a butterfly's
gentle wings.

Can you hear the voice of God?
Can you hear Him?
In the lazy hum of the honeybee's
flight,
as she ascends and descends upon
blossoms in summer's radiant light.

Can you hear the voice of God?
Can you hear Him?
In the lion's mighty roar.
Can you hear Him?
In the waves of the sea which
crash upon the shore.

Can you hear the voice of God?
Calling out to your inmost soul.
Saying,
"Come to Me,
  come and rest.
  Receive forgiveness.
  Let My love heal you.
Open the door of your heart to
  Me .
For I stand at the door and knock."

Can you hear the voice of God?
O weary traveller upon life's way.
He longs to comfort you in His Love.
And chase your fears away.

Can you hear?
Can you hear?
Will you say,
"Speak Lord, I'm listening."
For then...
You will hear.
The voice of God.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him,
and he with Me." Rev. 3:2, Holy Bible

"And it shall be that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  Acts 2:21, Holy Bible
