where I live
now is very hot
it's the dry desert

mountains encircle
the valley where
the rainbows lay

for short breaks
on periodically
sprinkled grass
From the collection California Notebooks 01
his mom gone at only eight,
a child lost and confused
his only clarity found on a mix tape
that if he could be in control of one thing was his name -
"starlord"
so innocent for twenty-two only to regain
his past.
shoved and pushed into a fish-eye view of the universe
trying not go insane
maneuvering his way around the stars
navigate
orienting his only human body into something inhumane
a guardian
people would call him,
he would hug his steel helmet around his brain
and see his world as it really is:
bright red
suffocates
but still manages to plaster a smile,
dumb jokes in his teeth to entertain
that if only somehow his scrabble of a life could turn
"fright" into "light"
but for god's sake
there is no light in black holes
a view opaque
only galaxies revolving around them,
other supernovas about to collapse
to conceal their fate
this is actually about Guardians of the Galaxy um

You crossover the cutting board
Quick witted leather fitted
Eyes blasting beautiful rainbows
Muscle rippling with truth
Capes and cowls
Heroes and villains
Smiles and scowls
A league of Avengers
A modern mythology
Patterned after past pantheons
DC to Marvel
The same side of two twisted coins
The same lie that I love to enjoy
Fiction intertwined with philosophy
Violence intertwined with morality
Leaving me with these power fantasies
Of superhero friends and families
You’re on my tv, movie screen
In my comic books, novels,
And even in my dreams

I am leviathan swimming through
the ashes of your remains
dying on the ground
you will soon be saved

masses falling to the graves
fearing fire and brimstone
your soul enslaved
ready for your grave

resting there under the sun
finding comfort in the birds song
escaping the malicious tongues
All will be rebuild before to long

life is just a lief falling
beautiful yet slowly dying
fleeing there torches and guns
maybe it is just time calling
balancing your life on the run
balancing life on the run

walk the beaten path
carry the weight of the wizards staff
through the mountain and  seas
see his trinkets glistening

the agony of your hypocrisy
vanish into thin air not to be seen
don't give validity to your insecurities
make life the way you want it to be

the sunflower set in the west
white rabbit rest on your breast
words don't always make sence
everyone has there own quest

sing your zombie song
dead astronaut and lizard skin
the devil's in dark cats and woman
marvel at the colors of your death

take the veil from off your eyes
and watch the sunrise
The beauty you seek is inside
my heart goes out to the night

resting here under the sun
finding comfort in the birds song
escaping the malicious tongues
life is just a lief falling
beautiful yet its slowly dying
fleeing there torches and guns
maybe it is just time calling
balancing your life on the run

racing to the red light
you fear personal hell
violate every law of the universe
and yet you feel so frail
put your  coin in the wishing well

Satan's diaphragm, pentagram in hand
Die is the O, death is the answer
voice carrying,  through the  under lands
tempting you like an exotic dancer

resting there under the sun
finding comfort in the birds song
escaping the malicious tongues
life is just a lief falling

beautiful yet its slowly dying
fleeing there torches and guns
maybe it is just time calling
balancing your life on the run

& so the lion fell in love with the lamb.
              isn’t this how it goes?

the hero takes a villain, and twists their heart.
molds it to something into something sweet.

you’d think you’d know better by now.
           you don’t.

you’d think that, maybe, this time you can change.
           you can’t.

you can try to be good for them.
          you aren’t.

your smiles are fake. not what he wants.
your face is fake, caked with make up. not what he deserves.

after shave and his cologne overwhelm you. you can smell it when he hugs you.
( only so you’ll stop crying at night. )

you think, every time he smiles, that you can believe in God again.
that you can walk inside a church and not burn.
       you never try.
you can lie all you want and say you are just fine.
you can lie all you want and still smile.
you can pretend he doesn’t hear your sobs.
you can pretend you  hear his in return.

if he'd just kiss you, finally, it’d be so pure
he’s so pure.
( isn't he? )

you’re not pure enough for him.
you never will be.
you’re not the hero in this story.

you push him away and pretend not to be ready.
( your heart has never beat so fast.
it’s trying to beat into his chest. into home. )

he tells you it’s okay, and then makes dinner.
alone.
alone-- like how you will die one of these days.
alone.
