Kanyadaan hua jab pura, Aaya samay vidayi ka Hashi khushi sab kaam hua tha, Saari rashmm adaai ka Beti ke uss kaatar swar ne , Baabul ko jhakjhor dia Puch rahi thi papa tumne, Kya sach-much me chodd dia Apne aangan ki phulwari, Mujhko sada kaha tumne Mere rone ko pal bhar bhi, Bilkul nahi saha tumne Kya iss aangan ke kone me, Mera kuch asthan nahi Ab mere rone ka papa, Tumko bilkul dhyan nahi Dekho antim baar dehri, Log mujhhe pujwaate hai Aakar ke papa inko kyu, Aap nahi dhamkate hai Nahi rokte chacha taau, Bhaiya se v aas nahi Aisi bhi kya nishthurta hai, Koi aata paas nahi Beti ki baato ko sun ke, Pita nahi rah saka khada Umadd pade ankho se aanshu, Badahawas sa daud pada Kaatar bichia si wah beti, Lipat pita se rotii thi Jaise yaado ke akshar wah, Ashru bindu se dhoti thi Maa ko laga god se koi, Maano sab kuch cheen chala Phool sabhi ghar ki phoolwari se koi jyo been chala Chota bhai bhi kone me, Baitha biatha subak raha Usko kaun karega chup ab, Wah kone me dubak raha Beti ke jaane par ghar ne, Jaane kya kya khoya hai Kabhi naa rone wala baap bhi, Phoot-Phoot kar roya hai ............

KANYADAAN HUA JAB PURA
A child wakes up , to mosquito bites, and Christ-on-a-bike-it’s-diwali , the fiesta of lights. the welcome vibes of halcyon tarried as hugs and gifts and smiles are carried, and waving her wrinkles mid-air ,daadi says today! god , to his land was ferried. Afar, the bronze herald of worship time, the temple bell goes off in a celestial chime. and cometh the priest , for the fire-ritual, line my pockets now , come on , be spiritual. but duh! your dhoti hast no pockets , saintly dummy; tsk.. fret ye not , for it goes straight into my tummy. mid-morning now , and mummy’s high-strung; ‘dust it well and dust it thorough and dust it till you burst a lung’. ‘garam pakode’ !! cries papa in his croaking tenor , ‘but one by one’ and now he begins with the manners. mummy is the last one , picking over the bones, she always has been , for what a family she owns. A muezzin somewhere cries the holy decree heads bow down and a pigeon flies free, from the onion dome , below the staccato claps ‘Ooparwala ! … ‘ the muezzin gasps , and ‘Ooparwala!.. ‘ a crowd chants in tow , and ‘Oops ! … ‘ the bird sheds it’s something and ***** soars high , and takes a bow . hey presto! the night has come. the moonless night of the homecoming lord. sweetmeats and sugars and syrups and us , laddu-barfi , well , that strikes a chord . Lakshmi , her owl , the glutton god with his mouse , revered an’ pleased an’ fed an’ flattered , and coaxed never to leave the house while out there , bombs and crackers burst and batter. The witch’s hour already , and the man ain’t home yet the lord is home , to get things straight, while the men all out on a greedy conquest; pennies on the dollar , unwavering faith still, for the beckoning bait . A child wakes up , to mosquito bites gone now is the carnival of lights. a goddess fled , a father bled a child scrapes off the waxy remains , the leftovers of candles ,pains, and no gains.

Seated beside you in a bicycle rickshaw, eventide of your last New Delhi day gathering itself all around us. Silk from my sari encircles my head, shoulders warmed by a winter shawl. Your heavy beige mantle and dhoti, frame a man as tall as a tree, at least to me. There is no need for words. I may have been singing a bhajan to you, just quietly, as shop lights came on in the deepening blue. Perfection finds us in the briefest of moments. Wherever you are now, timelessness governs friendships formed in the Land of the Veda.

Eventide in Shalimar Bagh
As I sauntered on banks of Yamuna at night. I saw a man old, bent, with stick in dhoti white. Tardily, step by step as he came nearer to me. With joy I smiled as our own beloved Bapu was he. With tears in my eyes I asked, ' Bapu you are still alive! , those three bullets holed your chest, how did you survive? What happened to you? Where were you all these days? What you ate? How you lived? Now where do you stay? Condition of your beloved land is deteriorating day by day. Countrymen have left your path, they have gone astray. Your image, your killers are trying to malign and degrade. Berating your ways, encouraging means which you forbade. Hitler's advocates on chariots are traversing Nation's length. Day by day Fascism is gaining ground , gaining strength. Disguised as followers of Sri Ram, deeds of Ravan they do. Riots and killings are frequent, women and minors are targeted too. Terrorism nourishing on terrorism, cruelty at its worst. Targeting anyone, anywhere, time and again bombs burst. Once a land of peace, land of sufism, land of saints, now ****** Innocent souls being killed without restraint. Regionalism is being encouraged and taking roots. Unity of the Nation selfish politicians reduce and dilute. Corruption is increasing everywhere and in all spheres Even highest office of respect could not keep itself clear ' Passing his hand over my head he smiled and said ' I am just a spirit, long ago my weak body was dead. Daily with expectation I rise and daily with despair I die Daily my hope is shattered and daily with grief I sigh They may have killed me but now I live in numerous hearts They may write me down in history yet my message will dart. See this flag, colour saffron is dear to me, colour green I love. between them is colour white, colour of peace, colour of dove. Nation divided in three hurts me more than bullets three From casteism and regionlism country should be free. Communalism should not be allowed to raise its ugly head. With sword of constitution Fascism we need to behead ' Three sound disturbed the calm, beloved Bapu fell on the ground I went to help but Bapu vanished with words 'Hey Ram' echoing around Determined that this time his innocent blood will not go waste. I collected his non-violent blood in my pen like ink with haste.

An old man clad in orthodox Indian Attire Entered my bed room. His Pure and white Dhoti was steeped in blood. I asked him who he was. He said, ‘I won Independence for you and Like Jesus I shed holy blood to purify the Indians” I asked him the reason for his coming He said, “I want to establish a political party’ I said, “Your party and you will utterly be defeated” He asked,” Do Indians forget my sacrifices and me” “No. We have great respect for you and we remember You in national festivals and in elections” But we will not like you to come to power” Why? He quite surprisingly asked. “You always plead for truth, non-violence and honesty And fight against liquor and corruption. The Indians are really fed up with your principles. Even your staunchest disciples will not vote for you” I said and the vision disappeared most dejectedly. I woke up from my dream wondering where He had gone .I felt very sorry for the old man

AN OLD MAN IN MY DREAM
Thirty three years Alexander lived Shakespeare wrote his tragedies the teacher near our house ...in dhoti turned twice still ***** with yesterday's mud goes for another regret what am I doing? The play was staged clowns and faces with paint their age twenty The man next door his face well known for the cycle he drew across the world where am I here? The lunatic in house arrest wants to breathe showing the foolish thumb to people on lanes but what am I doing? What am I doing? Doing what? Doing what ? Till half past three into the night the question haunts my ribs A inadequate path, oozing with men flood but all headless clouds Am I one in them? All my life I have been placing this head The weared out head of mine In one body in another Trying to look into the mirror On which body does this head of mine look like me

Designer Mandira Wirk gave actress Nimrat Kaur a regal look when she showcased her New Royals collection at Amazon India Fashion Week on Saturday. Wirk showed 20 ensembles, including Kaur’s ivory drape concept sari with just a zipper, panelled gown with mother of pearls and dori work paired with a sheer cape. “Her collection is so pretty and feminine,” said Kaur. “I love her clothes. This collection is called the New Royals... it’s bringing pretty back, beautifully enhancing the female body form. It makes you feel so light and pretty.” Panelled anarkalis, jackets and capes, crop tops, jumpsuits and tapered trousers appeared alongside designer’s signature drape saris and dhoti pants. Wirk, in a beautiful off-shoulder powder pink dress, said: “I wanted to get pretty back to the runway. Mandira Wirk celebrates 'pretty'
Cropped lands replaced with concrete slabs stomping on the chance of life, cries over the dried sky and cracked earth died in the drone of city life, Red dust clung to his dhoti migrating with him to the lush city only to be swept away to the curb, his feet traced the streets soles and soul with holes inflicted with pain, anger filled the hungry stomach only to burn some more.
