"coliseums" poems
His eyes feel like mad August;  his breath, hot like hope.  there’s oil in his insides, and fire twisting in his veins.  He glances past the striped tent, which rises and swells with wind. He sees a cluster of trees drinking stars, as whispers usher through their contorted alabaster marionettes. His childhood was a stranded candle arrested in bruise-colored nights. The lone light writhed, howled; but soon was strangled in wax. He always planted those volatile reminiscences in the soil next to his rotten garden heart. and felt those sickly seeds turn crimson, as each parasite boasted its own pulse. His skin kindles coliseums of gasoline-soaked bones. Slumber-sunk fireflies keep a hollow flame going, as shadows melt among the incendiary waves of his hair. He meanders into the light-studded circus, with a drop of sweat wobbling on his nose. The spectators fasten his flesh with their stares- and he slowly peers out at their silhouettes wriggling in the twilight. His torches burst to life. Scalding red veils crackling out of existence; and immediately smoke tugs at his lungs. His body hisses as he brings the chaos to his teeth. A charring succession of infernos singe his throat. Relics of his past heaves upward, those tears, souvenirs of lonely Septembers, illuminated between the feathers of phoenixes. And that pillar of flame suspended above his lips, cradled by deep liberating exhalations, collapses within itself. And the Night applauds.

The Fire Breather
What Will It Take By Song Bird (Verse 1) How many must we refuse and deny Before you and I realize our shame How many eyes gotta cry in vain Before we take away their pain How many lives must we claim Before we decide to make a change So what will it take for us To put down our arms And make our stand Stop bringing harm To our fellow man (Chorus) What will it take to make a stand What will it take to take someone’s hand What will it take to make our stance What will it take to take a chance What will it take to say we have had enough What will it take to give away our love What will it take (Verse 2) Because of the way we disregard And close our doors and our hearts to others There are those sleeping on cardboard On concrete floors, who are our brothers And our sisters, who can’t afford to eat Or have the clothing to stay warm Have no shoes for their feet And are left tattered and torn No homes just the streets they roam So don’t talk change, because talk is cheap If you and I ain’t gonna make a change (Chorus repeats 1) (Verse 3) Because of the way we disregard, Soldiers bombard poor countries With mortars, while children starve Go hungry and get our cold shoulder As our wars pillage and burn their village Turn their underprivileged places Into our coliseums, giving them no relief Just sad faces that have seen too much carnage Strife and defeat as we take away their very freedoms And tarnish their dreams, so don’t talk change Because talk is cheap, if you and I ain’t gonna make a change (Chorus repeats 1) (Verse 4) Because of the way we disregard Our earth is scarred by our many demands Left hurt and discarded by our own hands As we disgorge our resources Leaving our shores and sky to surely weep Our rainforests torched, our lands scorched Our oceans, rivers and seas are forced to bleed Nowhere for you or me to retreat So don’t talk change, because talk is cheap If you and I ain’t gonna make a change (Chorus repeats 2) (Outro) Isn’t it time we become the prayer Show the world that we care Loving we can spare, loving we can share So help the ones who are in despair What will it take for you to be there?

What's the point of the stars if they only fly to mock us To tell of a world beyond that thick blanket of night A moon victory above them all tells of coliseums of the cosmos A giant in a game we were never asked to play The sun burns itself to nothing And we catch the ashes, plant fields with its offcuts Never tasting banquet, never knowing super nova Alone in the dirt beneath life Currents blow overhead, pushing ice and rock As balloons let adrift, finding freedom in emptiness While our feet only know tracks and fields, grass and mud Life with food and sleep, not soul or poetry. Crooked grow our limbs and we think ourselves mighty Gangly forms dancing tiny While great domes of landscapes given face Smile at each other and speak Venus, Apollo, Mercury, Hades All principles in the sky, too graceful to be understood And not wanting our foul tentacles of knowledge To grip them, happy to keep away from Us oily things. No, I don't like being human I don't like being greasy

On the Banks of the River Rhone
Analytical beast I have a knowledge in my locker The swarm screams for the author The red then spills from the blood oath offer Higher than extraterrestrials and their flying saucers Universal football we kick meteors like soccer We battle in coliseums, mediators are awkward They fear the slanted enemies eyes and their lean postures They find it so astounding, there movement in green pastures Hunters become hunted, prey becomes stalkers They seem to breathe steam and move faster Engaging renegades will never make it easy for these ******** Thunderous parades of pain reported from the mental telecasters Wizards from faraway lands land by spell casting Time is forever lost but what they found is still lasting And what Is bound is surpassing, it's an avalanche...earth smashing The lands crashing, the world will regenerate but the swords will keep clashing.

this is where our adventures begin to warm up, they burst diagonally, stretched seams. Opened wide, blistering under this caustic and virile heat. The epicenter of someone's bi-polar anomaly- swarms of words and their words people coming and parting, coliseums and amphitheaters in spectacle garnet, draped in praise as upsetting and down-troche of what those blue sapphire lumens grew against the pale and sinewy shadow of shape flickering, violet cartoon faces bruising up their faces in the pulp and pulchritude where two separate identities meet and coerce the familiar into seeing at what it conceives. The diplopic opera and didactic vapidness in the horrendous aperture of the inexhaustible and mercurial sport. Then to see as the other half lives, compartmentalized in the curious cabinetries of disorder

I've been waging a war against hate How was I to know this would be my fate Open the doors to heaven’s gate But more like I’ll be drenched in acid rain And who the **** am I to complain? It gives me the drive to make a name I keep on swinging back when I hit, I hit like a train don’t need drugs to stimulate my brain I've been walking around dragging a ball and chain And I’d never been the guy that could just shoot to fame I’m too caught up in my own ways Arguing with myself for days upon days I’m just nothing like those Jay’s and Kanye’s This is my function Can’t stop this blood rush and I’ll always come up with something To knock these trolls back down Stepping up to the platform now 10 Feet above the ground I rock these coliseums I’ll break them down I’m unstoppable When my heads up in the clouds A lot of people thought I lost my confidence But isn't it a coincidence that they believe in every word that I say I know I wouldn't trust me. if I was someone else. Just don’t let that secret out To the people who want to bring me down And that’s nearly everybody in the crowd They're trying to drown me out No, I won’t stand for this I’m cranking up the volume Screaming through this microphone You’ll never take me out So shut your mouth This is my function Can’t stop this blood rush and I’ll always come up with something To knock these trolls back down Stepping up to the platform now 10 Feet above the ground I rock these coliseums I’ll break them down I’m unstoppable When my heads up in the clouds ©2017 Written By Benji James
