Falling

I think I'm falling in love.
Not the cute and pretty kind,
but the mean and gritty type that
you worry is going to last too long.
Will I end up missing your face?
Watch it fade as those memories dim.
There's a reason it's called falling
and not floating nor gliding.

God, I hate falling in love.
Isn't it so peculiarly terrifying?

We speak to each other in graceful touches,

left aching and throbbing with hearts out of sync.

And then we fail to speak at all, the throbbing stops

but the ache doesn’t.

We take photos together when we feel most alive.

And then we take photos to preserve what’s left, and

snap, snap before we see the stop sign.

We call, back and forth,

like flightless birds on opposite branches, needing each other’s wings.

And then we shirk, avoid,

run and flee at the slightest word in acres of blank space.

We cling like trembling flowers,

blown to brush together and meet petal by petal.

And then our slender stems snap, both falling to the earth

to not touch again and shed our tears in the dirt.

We sketch out our dreams, like mixing colours on a free easel.

And then we refuse to blend them into a painting of ourselves together.

We teach each other how to feel in love,

to feel desired, to embrace and to collapse outside our own arms.

And then we teach each other what absence truly feels like,

burning and itching and rough.

We whisper nothings to each other;

promises that we shall stay, that we would wait forever and long

into the dreary days of the in-between, honeymoon long gone.

And then we turn our backs and walk to opposite sides of our universe,

to hold hands with the scarce left-over stars.

We show each other who we want more than anyone else.

And then we take each other’s hearts when we realise we are

who they never wanted.

We understand our voices and our flaws.

And then we scream foreign tongues at each other,

hurling shattered insides and twisted hopes across our distances.

The double blade to every sword we wield.

If I gave you my heart on a big silver platter
would you sit with me here at the edge of the moon
Arranging the stars in a musical pattern
singing along as they whistle their tune

Then could we climb up a peppermint tower
counting each stripe that we touched as we rose
Looking out over the valley in slumber
trying to guess the sweet dreams that they chose

Maybe then sail on an ocean of petals
riding each wave made of marigold leaves
Dropping our anchor just next to the garden
tied to a web that an old spider weaves

Or we might pick up a brush filled with laughter
painting a kite on the chuckling skies
Run with the string as a masterpiece follows
chasing a tail laced with blue butterflies

Kiss in a rainstorm of umbrella whispers
splashing in puddles reflecting your smile
Wake up the sun as it snoozes till lunchtime
rest in the shade holding hands for a while

If I gave you my heart on a big silver platter
showing you life is a beautiful view
Promising all you could ever imagine
would you give me your heart on a big silver platter… too

Somewhere
hidden
in her
soul,

beneath her
veiled words
and the glances she stole,
was a story left to unfold.
A desire to be noticed,
A desire to be admired.
As if her presence
was dripping in
molten gold.

Persevere, my dear
For everything you lack
And all the voids unfilled
One day, soon
I promise
You're happiness will overflow

Maybe it will be
The day you die
When you realize
All the ego's lies
Were making you unsatisfied

But I hope today
Is a different day for you
I hope today
You don't make yet another excuse
To self-sabotage and continue on in your abuse
Of your beautiful body and
Your magnificent mind
I truly hope that you decide
To be kind to yourself

Trust me,
I would know
It's not always easy
To feel like you are pleasing
You get addicted to appeasing
Other's egos
But my dear
Wrap yourself within the warmth of your own arms
Because today,
You don't have to feel this way,
You are safe
You don't have to be addicted to your vices
That only bring temporary relief...
No darling,
You can make a change today in your life
And persevere through the trials of transformation
Until one day,
You awaken
To eyes crystal clear
And a heart that can feel again.

Rapunzoll
they make goodbyes
sound easy
when they're at your door
late at night
and they scream your
name like a warning
from the bottom
of the staircase
you leave them,
until apologies make
your tongue as raw as
saw-dust
those nameless boys
the one's with
smoky breath,
they write your name
to the skies
constellate it to their
forefingers and cross it
over their forehead
like a baptism
those boys with hands
that eat like worms
at the dying heart
of your feelings
no, they don't love you
only death can
love you,
nameless girl
with the
countless faces.
