Laid my head beneath the sky,
Timid stars, looked so wry.
Asked, "Have you lost your bright light?"
Stars smirked, "You see dull 'cause your eyes fright!"

Showed my teeth, puffed up cheeks,
"See the smile? I'm not that weak!"
Stars mocked, "Fooled the world
Think you can fool me?"

Startled, distressed, I shouted
"What do you know about me!"
Stars smiled, "To be a star,
Had rough path, but never left glee.
Behold! what do you see?
Struggle? Or just sheer beauty?"

Suddenly, I was seeping in ground
Those heavy words dragged me down,
I lost my groove, as I struggled to bound
While the stars looked bigger in their glinting crowns.

Reluctant, I asked, "Is sadness all I've got?
Am I just like a desert's drought?"

Stars empathised, "Alas! You don't know what you are,
Pull yourself from isolation's tar,
& leave the lonesome den afar,
For you can shine brighter than a star."

What love is not?
Sitting together but immersed in phone.
Sleeping together but not cuddling anymore.
Walking together, but acting like strangers.
Talking 30 seconds even after 15 long hours.
If this is love.. I dont want it.

Nails are blue,
Skin is sore,
Hands are cuffed,
By the winter wind.

Cheeks blushing red,
Cold air whispering in ear
Dewy hair tucked in hood
Teeth chattering in monotony.

The last time I lived a happy winter
Is now living on a piece of paper.
I don't know why its so different,
Only skin feels the winter,
the mind is living elsewhere.
What my skin feels, my mind cannot reciprocate.
The carols are in the air, but my brain cannot process that the happy days are here.

Dear democracy,
Are you really there?
Fighters fought for freedom
Now the youth, for their share.

You taught us to be free,
You taught us to put our opinion
But lately you seem like a mere word,
To be used by only a politician.
I live in India, and the recent protests are making me sick. Are we humans or just vote banks?

Words..
Just a jumble of letters
Some make you happy
Some break your heart
Some bloom beautifully
Some get lost in the foliage

Once the calm ocean
Engulfed the entire sky

Once the gleaming sun
Made the homeless cry

Once the soothing wind
Uprooted innumerable lives

What a sinful wrath,
It haunts for a lifetime

I wear makeup,

For the eyes
That witnessed a sleepless night.

For the face
Turned blue from your venomous bite.
I'll remember each word you uttered.

You lean to kiss her,
While I am still on your lips
You hold her in your arms,
While you tighten my fist

Words like honey,
Drizzled on the wall
I climbed my way up,
An ant following her path.

There is no aftermath
No happy ending to my story
The sorrow chose to be infinite
So here I write one more poetry

We are all a little lonely.

To
the man driving to an empty house after work,

the homeless guy wondering life & survival,

the lover plucking petals to feed his infatuation,

the last petal feeling alone before it's plucked,

the lonesome bird sitting on a branch without a mate,

the happy dog who was just left off at an unknown place,

I want you to know..
The breeze touching your skin,
Has touched me too
I feel you my friend,
Now this is my pain too.
I hope I could find you,
Share your loneliness with mine,
Maybe we'll meet,
30 years later, below the ground.
If you are lonely, we have something in common. Are you still lonely?
