One day your looks will dissipate
Like the steam from boiling water
Gradually but inevitably
Your physicality will falter

Superficiality
Is joyous to an extent
When you're young and exploring life
But you can't always depend
On materials and shallow links
To bring you what a connection can
When you're on your death bed
Whether wealthy or simply meeting ends

Superficiality fades
When all you crave is to hold a hand

She would wake up every morning, wondering if the picture she posted last night got enough likes. If the likes didn't impress her, she would even second guess herself, her worth and say something in the lines like "am i even pretty" . You may call her an attention seeker, but i 'd say that she is just another victim of this superficial world we live in.

If only he'd notice me.
If only he'd look my way.
If only he'd look past my insecurities,
And be mine one day.
His beauty astounds me,
makes me think twice.
And when those gorgeous eyes meet mine,
It only makes me think thrice.
About why I bother,
When he's clearly hotter.
And worth more than the love of a dreaming girl.

He had pretty bright brown eyes
A not so fair skin
He wasn't tall
But hell
He had a killer smile
A smile that can make you go insane
Lips that make you wanna bite it
He had a face
that makes you go saying
"**** me papi"

In the moments before she leaves
When her hands sweat bullets
With full anticipation of the future to be
She looks in the mirror, worried.
She looks out the window, he isn't there yet.
She looks back to the mirror,
Her hair is a mess, she fixes her bangs to one side,
She looks again outside, he isn't there yet.

She's pacing, wasting time in anxious
She notices her make-up smudged
While he's driving down the road
Looking in his side mirror to judge
Why she agreed to an evening
Leaving him self-conscious of his soul
His eyes meet his eyes and in his own gaze
He feels he could swallow himself whole.
Pulling into the driveway,
He inhales deep and says
"Don't let this one get away"

He walks to the door feeling his pulse
She walks to the door trying to breath slow
He thinks she's going to look perfect
She thinks he's going to look perfect
She turns the **** and pulls
The ending, time will only show.

Never forget,
Neither your scale,
Nor your mirror,
Should ever, ever determine
Your self-worth.
