OBADOFIN SAMUEL Mar 2019
IF
What if, we are all a dream
The vision of what would happen,
We live in oblivion of what we know
Our world a knife bluntly sharpened.

What if, we are only a warning
To man if he eats of the tree,
He' ll still be in he's deep
Sleeping in shackles, free.

What if time was a game
Just stop it and start all over again,
Grief was just a track
A whole, outer part of the train.

What if WHAT IS
Is just a collection of WHAT IF
How do I reconcile with,
What is?
the poem grew out of  the uncertainty in the human existence and the hunger for the philosophical stand we need.

A place
Where I don't need to hide,
A world that shines so bright
I don't wanna close my eyes
or sleep at night.
For the light is my life
and I know this is right
and I feel for the earth to my soul
to the bowl
of milk
that is left
in the cleft
in the middle of her
last
craft
and her last
laugh.
My baby's last
last laugh.
For she slips away
As fast as she came, she left.
One moment my whole life was there.
In the face of a kid who's age not four.
And yet,
I sit.
Wondering.
Dreaming.
What if?
I can't imagine the pain of losing a child.

words would be stripped to the tones
just pain and desire

intention is overlooked
man should not exist
