The ice melts,slowly
The seasons change.
If I could meet you
For the very first time
All over again,
I wouldn't take your pen
We would never fight again.

Stand beside me in this river
Of common history
And conflicting ideas
I can't live without you
But somedays I do.
I've pushed you to the edge
But you refuse to drown
You hold on to me
And I hold on to the you
That used to be.

We're vapours and smaug
I can't see you anymore
I drift away in silent grace
In the cold comfort
Of an impending goodbye
Your hand softens around
The blue veins on the inside
Of my wrist and I come undone
I can't tell tears from rain
And you can't tell me from the winds.
I drift away in the lackadaisical sky
Of all the ugly things I chose to see
And all the ways a person can be
Just water under the bridge.

Now that I've seen your flaws
It's only fair that I don't see
More.

I've got pictures living in my phone
Of people I haven't checked on in years,
It's weird how long I've been alone.

I thought you better than to listen to the fox
You knew it only tells lies, yet still you stayed
It has caused you to tumble down and now mocks
Though I yell you cannot hear through the blockade

You were told your actions held no consequences
But drop a stone in still water and watch the ripples
You know now your mistakes but have no more defenses
I could not warn you in time and it has left you crippled.

Where does all the laughter go when high-pitched chuckles stop?
Where do the tears go when all were wiped-off?
Where does frown go when one keeps calm?
Where do hopes go when one stopped believing?
Where does love reside when the heart stops beating?
To the great depths of our enduring hearts, solitary and shattered?
To the vast horizons, scattered and forgotten?
To the verdant earth, blown to faraway lands?
But where, if not to you?
