Belonging to no masters
Bowing to no shiny idol
Formed as crashing waves
Tsunami and the tidal

Freeing enslaved minds
Requiring no police
From simplistic limerick
To powerful treatise

Capable to be inclusive
of every type of mind
From hideously critical
To the wise and kind

Between sanity - insanity
The line delightfully blurs
A home for loony writers
Saboteurs and connoisseurs

Ignore at poetry's peril
This most mediocre rhyme
The more that verse is policed
The less that it will chime
We all have a responsibility to appose division how ever hard it seems

Maria
Cant you hear their cries
Of pain. Of suffering.
The echoes of malicious crimes.
Or have we become unaffected by the images
As history repeats itself one more time

Some where down the line
Humanity has been lost
As ignorance prevails, and their conscious dies
Who is left to preserve and protect innocent lives

As we sit watching the events unfolding
And the tears of both young and old
Like the missiles, do they fall

Have the oppressors forgotten, it was these people
who gave them shelter when they were the oppressed
United we were then to end the brutality and maltreatment
Now the tables have turned
We ignorantly refuse to believe it is happening again

For the innocents the fight continues
Their faith and their strength. It never falters
As they take back what is theirs.
Hoping that someone helps and intervenes
Giving back what's theirs, bringing them peace

The fear and dread
The weeping souls
The blessed land
Forgotten and torn

They fight the battle
as we look on
The hourly struggle
of the abandoned ones.

This is for those people suffering in Palestine, Gaza, Burma, Syria and anywhere else where innocent lives are being brutally taken by the evils of oppressors and ignorants.

Deep down in the inhospitable gloom
Monterey Canyon welcomes an expectant mother
Unnoticed in the distance a whirring sound
and two parallel laser beams
Miss Cellania finds a nook
That instinct suggests is right
A place to nest and brood
A place to guard and wait

1.4 kilometers up a research institute
Guided the unmanned submarine
Correlated masses of data
Stared at live video feed
A unique event unfolded
Capturing such a moment
in this dark abyss

Clinging to a vertical rock
Her precious babies waiting to hatch
Her final duty to
Wait

Wait

Wait

Wait

Wait
Protect from predators and the icy cold
And so she began the
Inky black wait

Detached

Alone

The research crew returned later that year
Miss Cellania dutifully kept her vigil
They returned again month after month
Still she stubbornly stuck to the task in hand
The months turned to years
And still she protected her unhatched young
Clung to the same vertical spot
With nothing to eat
Alert, defensive
Motherly
Patiently waiting
Wasting away
Waiting
Waiting

Untill

F i f t y   t h r e e   m o n t h s   l a t e r
Four and a half years
Finally her wait ended
With a flurry of independent life

**Then death.
For all mothers
The mothers instinctive love
is surely the most powerful force on earth

His love for her made her
More like him.
Her love for him made him
Like her more.
His love for her made him
More like her.
Moreover, for them,
She made love more like him.
He made love, at her whim,
More like her than like him.
The heart embraces what the eyes have made welcome.
A relationship evolves constantly, motives and incentives shift, carrying lovers along a river unlike what they could ever dream of predicting or controlling.  That said, I wrote much of this only for it's clever wordplay, the rhythms of speech, and to impress a woman.  Oh, fatal vanity!!   Hear it read aloud here:

In praise of DIVINUS

//

I walk with measured steps
Thru the childhood days

Past the **** heads dying in the park
Thru to the cutters and the depressed kids

Who write of lovelessness
Here on hello poetry

///

On the brink of World War III
Wounded to the very heart

Telling of the pain of Loneliness
(   Such deep and penetrating loneliness. )

••

The tenemented poverty
The isolation

The continuous onslaught
The reverberations

The utter lack of hope
The utter abandonment of faith

/:/

The frighten refusal to see
The universality of the dissolution

The pandering to collectivity
The "me-too" egoism

That says
Sadness is enough
misery is qualification enough

The lack of rebelliousness
The turning of suffering into normalcy

The steady worship of authority
The denial that there will be a reckoning tomorrow

••

All the hippies are gone
Replaced by violent lovers and *** addled addicts

The plight of lemmings
Going over the cliff
Into the sea

///

Dear people
There is

Something
Much better

Much finer
Neater

More holy
And satisfying

Than to simply
await death

While telling each other
Nothing of significance

Fine line between wrong and right
the line divides like day and night
no grey defined, black or white
a mind that's blind or finds the light
