you're a WILD CARD, WILDCARD
sniffing coke
and hoping not to choke
crying in the rain
cause daddy apologized too late

you're a WILD CARD, WILDCARD
acting out so they look your way
even if it's to snarl, sneer, as they sip their belvedere
running the blazing red lights
half-way hoping not to die

you're a WILD CARD, WILDCARD
racking up some NDEs
swerving your bleak blue lamborghini
sitting in your boy-best-friend's lap
leaving absolutely no gap

you're a WILD CARD, WILDCARD
hotwiring a luxury sports car
to hear it skid loudly on the tar
kissing him behind closed doors
before ******* him on all fours.

you're a WILD CARD, WILDCARD
growing up too fast
cause daddy couldn't make life last
dragging mommy down to hell
leaving you to blow the inheritance on chanel

you're a WILD CARD, WILDCARD
the devil rages in your eyes
fueling each and every one of your highs
allowing you no goodbyes
so you can keep your eye on the prize

“Don’t ask me to slow down, cause I won’t.” He spared Mingi a sarcastic smile. “You can’t get scared, either. Just.. have fun.” Yunho reached over to hold Mingi’s hand.

Mingi raised his brow, pulling away from Yunho’s grasp. “You think I’m gonna be scared ? My mama didn’t raise me to be a little *****.” He crossed his arms.

Yunho snickered, a menacing glint in his deep eyes as he slowly pulled up to a yellow light signaling drivers to stop.

“I warned you.”

He didn’t waste a second to hit the gas pedal, the energy going from 0 to 100 as he ran the first red light of the night.

Jeong Yunho, Daredevil.

The engine was so loud, the word ‘purr’ couldn’t even be used to describe it. Mingi’s hands gripped onto the door as the younger hit 90 mph, speeding on the public roads. Christ, they better pray there aren’t cops patrolling this area, or Yunho would have a disgusting fine to pay for multiple felonies.

Not that he couldn’t pay it, though.

“Yunho, slow down !!” Mingi yelped, locking his seatbelt so he didn’t fly forwards every time he sped. Yunho didn’t look over, keeping his eyes and smile turned towards the road.

He shook his head, laughter bubbling up in his chest. “What did I tell you, hyung !? There’s no turning back now !” He shouted, his voice barely audible over the roaring engine and loud music booming from the speakers.

Yunho took a sharp left, then a right behind the warehouse through the fortunately open gates of the chain-link fence. He didn’t know if the gates were even open, or not.
The gravel crunched beneath the wheels, a beautiful sound that sent chills down Yunho’s spine. Mingi started to laugh for the same reason, the feeling of excitement rushing up his chest and out of his mouth. It was a sweet, melodic sound, one of pure elation.

“See, it’s fun, right ?” Yunho leaned to his side, yelling at Mingi.

Fun wasn’t the right word. It didn’t give enough credit for his… excitement. Nights like these never made him feel as euphoric as now, but currently, Yunho’s headlights were illuminating a whole new side of himself, almost distorting and altering his current beliefs.

He was finally sort of feeling the revitalizing rush that Yunho described deriving from careless experiences.

Yunho made a quick left, his wheels drifting against the gravel, fragments of rock flying against the metal fences. Oh, he wanted so badly to turn his head to look at Mingi, to see his radiant smile, but he wouldn’t waste that NDE for just a glance.

He played with the wheels on the rear-end again, gripping the wheel tight with each turn he took. The engine revved as he spun in a circle, the sharp impact causing Mingi’s shoulder to bump against the door, a little yelp leaving his lips.

“You alright, Mingi ??” Yunho called out, reaching one hand over to grip the meat of the elder’s thigh. He let out a hearty laugh, placing his hand over Yunho’s for a split second before pointing forwards at the road. “Focus, man !” He screamed, waving his hand in front of them.

Yunho smirked, the same devilish one Mingi had seen when they were messing with that McLaren. He didn’t slow down exactly as he intended to, speeding up to reach 100 mph after a right turn.

The brick wall of the warehouse got closer by the second, Yunho unconsciously speeding up to a sui cidal 120 on the dash.

“Yo, what the **** are you doing, Yunho ?!?”

Yunho didn’t answer. Didn’t even spare him a glimpse. His eyes were frantically scanning over the meters, flashing towards the space in front of him, internally timing everything with precise ideas of their outcome. It was do or die, literally.

Mingi’s whole ******* life flashed before his eyes, anticipating the end of his life to be due to reckless driving. He squeezed his eyes shut, the only sounds he could process were the engine and Yunho’s shallow gasps for air. Mingi wasn’t even breathing, at this point.

On the other hand, Yunho felt the flow of the voltage coursing through his veins as if they were wires, fueling his rush, awakening him like never before.

All he saw were bricks. So he swerved the Aventador right, skidding across the grit, the small spoiler wing practically a hair away from the wall.

The whole vehicle did a 360, Yunho easing down on the brakes as things took a different feeling. He looked over at Mingi, who finally opened his eyes, heavy breaths leaving his parted lips as his chest heaved.

Yunho unbuckled his seatbelt, getting out of his seat and putting himself in Mingi’s lap. He locked his arms around his neck, Mingi’s slithering around his waist as they caught their breath together.

As their bodies settled down, Yunho was the first to pull away, yet keeping his body flush against Mingi’s. He cupped the elder’s face, his thumbs stroking his soft cheeks as his soft pants brushing against his lips.

“Where did you learn to do that ?” Mingi inhaled, his hands holding tightly onto Yunho’s hips.

“I didn’t.”

Mingi laughed. “We could’ve died.”

“I know.” Yunho smiled, leaning in, his forehead against Mingi’s.

Mingi pulled him in for another hug, holding him tightly before releasing. “You should probably drive back, before the cops show up.” He whispered, running his hands through Yunho’s slightly sweat-damp hair.

Yunho whined, wiggling around a bit. “What, you don’t like when I sit on your lap ?” He purred, directly addressing their close, close proximity. Mingi looked away, chuckling, before Yunho took his face back in his hands, pulling him closer.
“C’mon, Mingi-hyung, you have to admit. You like it when we’re this close, right ?” He sweetly smiled, using his soft-toned voice.

Mingi sighed, patting Yunho’s bottom as an indicator for him to get up. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s go, Yuyu. Then you can sit in my lap all you’d like.” Mingi promised, helping him up. Yunho carefully stepped over the centre console, sitting down in the driver’s seat.

The car ride back was almost soothing compared to the rush from before. It was almost like Yunho channeled his pent-up ****** energy into these external actions to relieve himself.

But it didn’t last for long, as he could already feel his body becoming eager for the thought of what was to come.

---

in "WILDCARD" jeong yunho, a high school senior loses both of his parents in a pathetic car accident. the one thing he really loved, killed his parents. he becomes a reckless boy, a daredevil who tests himself, risking multiple felonies, his life and his relationship with his best friend mingi, who grounds him. mingi and yunho have not only ****** tension, but also romantic tension, leaving the piece as palpable as can be all the way through.

Ha-Ha, Joker's laugh, wildcard coyote
dances a maniac tango, joking
in the midst of elemental chaos--
giggling at the lava, way hot
watching the castle's mortar dissolve, doting
the cacophonous crumbling symphony akin to Amadeus.
Ha-ha, joker's laugh, wildcard coyote
ignites a spliff with incandescent embers, smoking--
up under falling stars getting higher than the Himalayas
and more enlightened as the midnight parades off
into a translucent, steaming ashy bayou, hoping
there's a bite to eat before the heat waves doff
the darkness completely into blinding, hokey
sunbeams reflecting in snow, that cuckoo tune never lost,
Ha-ha, joker's laugh from that wildcard coyote.

It's like the movie
part of me*
It tells me where I should
go and want to be
Please note that I will say
Not a dark place
inside my suitcase

"Robin Red Breasted" suit
Peck and nip and tuck in place
The rainbow iridescent
Suiting her taste wet rain tents
Everyone was Green with envy
Robin/ Rainbow event lets hear
it for our Army so many
troops

He was sitting politely
Like a salesman of suitcases
on her stoop
She was mesmerized
Living out of a tour suitcase
She wanted daisies she was
ready for fantasies
Of him in her suitcase

Tumbling through
Another time Postman
Singing birds to ring twice
Birds all in groups
Computer laptops she wanted
to be surprised so mysterious
But ready for love ingenious

He laughed not losing sight
Robin eats like a bird
so hilarious
She packed her sunshine
yellow ribbons
she was ready to feed
Those Brooklyn pigeons

Packed suitcase ready for
the love of God
Going frenzy from her fruit loops
Robin Birdie born traveler scoop
Well nested flying South
fully invested
Rocking her flight cradle

Wherever I go or whatever I do
Traveling packs meet
Mr. Ramen noodles
Getting silly splashing puddles

The Spiritual Zen
traveling boots over a shower
He kissed them high up (Eiffel Tower)
Rome Italy wines in love cahoots

The call I'm ready "Amazon" wild
Let us go, child, another story
But the wildcard fresh air
Oh! Dear
The  lightness easy does it
feathering wings the clues fit
Packing my suitcase
Love is a drug of "Europe"
Perfectly fine wine
Always hope with cantaloupe
I just felt to write something about a trip maybe I should have my head flipped but this is what I came up with imaginative being ready holding my heart steady being selective and being ready for anything the birds fly Robin red breast putting her to the test

She's the type of mystery
Who ****** into you
With a barbed hooking
You never know if she's going to stab your lovesick heart
Or just stab you.
Ivan Brooks Sr Oct 2018
You can't silence the church's bell,
So, a poet can't be silenced, never!
He was born with deep stories to tell.
Even after life, his words are forever!

You can stop the flow of the Nile
Therefore you can't alter its direction.
Like tempering with Monalisa's smile,
call it an affront and abomination!

You can't tell the tales of the pyramid
Therefore you can't decipher Egypt.
Like the ocean and the mermaid,
It's a wildcard and mysterious script!

You can't see the end of the universe
Therefore you can't fully fathom it.
It's infinite, deep and immense,
That's why there's always a star to spit.

It burns when you look in my eyes,
It burns when you hold my hand.
It burns when you say my name,
But it burns even more when you don't.

It burns when you talk about her,
It burns when you say anything.
It even burns when you make me smile
But it burns even more when I cry.

It burns, it stings, it pains, it hurts
But I would burn 1,000,000 shoes walking on sunshine with you.
I got a wildcard for a writing prompt and didn't know what to write. I asked my teacher and she, knowing that I struggle with poetry that doesn't rhyme, challenged me to write one. I feel really blessed to have a teacher to push me to be a better writer.
