I thank God for friends like you
Who live their lives in simple truth

They help a friend along the way
And count their blessings everyday

They found love is not in word but deed
And care enough to plant the seeds

That grow into a friendship deep
They live to grow and play to keep.

So don't let the years twist the truth
Just keep on being friends like you.

A poem from the living of my life.

Notes:
In honor of friends through the years who went above and beyond the call of duty.
Filled with vestiges of yesteryear’s
My dreams reminisce  joyful tears

I have become a relic of my past
as I age, my memory will not last

Father time no longer my friend
The past doesn’t seem real in the end

I wonder what was it all for?
Spiritual warfare Satan keeping score

Was everything a test?
I hope I truly tried my best

By the grace of God
The Holy Spirit, a wink and a nod

I have eyes that see
Have I lived up to who God wants me to be

I have ears that hear
Putting on my armor of God without fear

I pray
Knowing
God knows what I’m gonna say

God knows my questions
God knows my heart

Yes still I pray
I am not worthy
That God should enter under my roof
Lord say the word
And my soul shall be healed
Rejoice in peace my heart will be filled

Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset
Swiftly go the days
Sunrise, sunset, you wake up then you undress
It always is the same
The Sun rise and the Sun sets
You're lying while you confess
Keep trying to explain
The Sun rise and the Sun sets
You realize, then you forget
What you've been trying to retain

But everybody knows it's all about the things
That get stuck inside of your head
Like the songs your roommate sings
Or a vision of her body as she stretches out on your bed

You raise her hands in the air
Ask her "When was the last time you looked in the mirror?
'Cause you've changed
Yeah, you've changed"

Sun rise, the Sun sets
You're hopeful, then you regret
The circle never breaks

With a sunrise and sunset
There's a change of heart or address
Is there nothing that remains?

For a sunrise or a sunset
You're manic or you're depressed
Will you ever feel ok?

For a sunrise or a sunset
Your lover is an actress
Did you really think she'd stay?

For a sunrise or a sunset
You're either coming or you just left
But you're always on the way

Towards a sunrise or a sunset
A scribble or a sonnet
They are really just the same

To the sunrise or the sunset
The master and his servant
Have exactly the same fate

It's a sunrise and a sunset
From a cradle to a casket
There is no way to escape

The sunrise or the sunset
Hold your sadness like a puppet
Keep putting on the play

But everything you do is leading to the point
Where you just won't know what to do
And the moment that you're laughing
There is someone there who will be laughing louder than you
So it's true, the trick is complete
You've become everything you said you never would be
You're a fool, you're a fool

Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset
Sunrise and the Sun sets
Sunrise, sunset, the sunrise, the sun sets
Sun rise, the Sun sets
Sunrise, sunset, go home to your apartment
Put the cassette in the tape deck
And let that fever play
Sunrise, sunset, where are you, Arienette?
Where are you, Arienette?

By the rose’s touch, may love arise,
A glowing light beneath soft skies.
In every heart, may it remain,
A timeless flame that knows no pain.

As the sun comes up day after day,
I just wonder when this act would halt,
wishing for the darkness to stay forever,
to wake up, only if I can see you near.

Pretending through the day is bad enough,
then comes the moon, to whom I talk,
pouring out my sorrows and breaking down,
making the nights worse, along with nightmares.

I hardly understand the ticking of the clock,
trying hard to go through each day,
wishing today would finally be my time,
to go into a peaceful sleep and not be back.
I have been waiting
to live

for so long.
I forget
I'm already here.
My mother asks me to say his name,
I 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 do,
But the air is thick and my voice is thin.

Only the Machine speaks for him now.
The walls have swallowed all the sunlight,
Once a bedroom, now a hospital.
The wires and tubes that keep him alive
wrap tightly around my throat.

I stand there in front of his bed,
fists clenched and breath held,
reduced to a mere silhouette.
I 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 touch his hand,
I 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 say something.

But my voice can’t pull him back.
What do you say to someone
who’s half there
and half somewhere else?

My mother asks me to say his name,
𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤.
