How do you keep it at bay?
As it whittles down your soul?
Past, present, future combined.
And you sink into the hole.

Your shield is love, your sword is hate,
And you’re standing alone.
But who cares you’re broken, it’s all but done,
And you have to atone.

I was a strong and sturdy man,
That so much was true,
Strong skin, but not within,
I just didn’t have a clue.

Fix me, strip me, now I’m naked.
Set to self-destruct.
Here it comes bearing down.
And now we’re ******.

My sails have weakened in the wind
And the waves are too high.
It’s dark, the blackness is hugging me tight,
And I can’t, I won’t, I failed, goodbye.
4th paragraph is my favorite.

I can feel the caffeine taking hold.
My thoughts, my writing no longer cold.
It's in my veins this magic bean.
And now I face the world unclean.
But what a world now to see and hear.
And the Universe is gets close my dear.

Coffee, Coffee friend or foe?
Coffee, Coffee never go!

I feel your hands
in the depths of my heart.
Grabbing the weeds
and tearing them apart.

What do you want?
I ponder in the dark.
Your hands don't react
to my remark.

Why choose me?
I'm nothing but weeds!
The hand slowly opens
with a palm full of seeds.

One seed is scooped up.
It's special indeed.
You say, “This is my love,
and it's my love you need.”

"But my soil is cracked,
by pain & by death.
I'm flawed and broken!"
I plea out of breath.

I feel it being planted
This new love in my heart.
It grows and it grows,
which is the best part.

It grows even now,
and it's only the start.
I've planted one too!
In your garden heart.
We're all flawed and broken, but...

Here is a ******* poem.
I hope to God it rhymes.
It better be for a pretty girl,
Like I’ve done a million times.

A shameless poem to lure her in.
A song and dance to thee.
She took the bait and loves me now,
For a daily, nominal fee.

She rips out my heart,
Turns me bitter and loathsome.
I say to you now in a defiant tone:
Here is my ******* poem!
Yes it was after a breakup, but speaks more to relationships in general. And yes, as poets, we certainly use it to our advantage.

Liked this so much, I did a video: https://youtu.be/p2a4uPanLUk
