Some would call it a back stab,
I just call it a backtrack,
Every path that was once unseen,
Is now unearthed right in front of me,
I could say that I'm wrong,
I haven't always been strong,
But in my weakness,
I always bounce back like a reflex,
A metaphor of burning ashes giving birth to a Phoenix?,
But I'm still sleeping,
The giant still grows,
Nearly 24 and not a clue of where my future is going,
2 years, countless hours, spilling out my heart,
A piece of me is out there idle,
Waiting for a spark,
Somebody to notice,
But everybody has their own ideas, opinions and motives,
Square one wouldn't scare me if I had pushed so much,
Maybe I'll be proud if I suffer enough...

Little Voices
Matt Delgado Jan 2017
I can't shut my brain off,
A million voices run around,
Whispering their ideas,
As I try to cut through the sound,
A hundred different things,
That I'd like to do today,
I'll only complete a few, before my life wastes away,

Silence,
I haven't had it in a while,
Even when it's quiet,
The little voices like to shout,
They unleash my imagination,
Never getting bored,
With all their fascination,

Mentally, I'm always on the go,
It only stops, when I let my eyes close,
But first thing when I wake up,
Those little voices lineup

Send in the Clowns
Matt Delgado Jun 2016
Send in the clowns,
Send in the clowns,
Guaranteed to bring on the frowns,
From their fake little laughs,
To their super crooked smiles,
Seated are so many,
Overflowing into the aisles,

Send in the clowns to distract from what matters,
Their only goal?
To be the first to climb the ladder,
To control this three ring circus,
From the east to the west,
The orange clown won't quit until he's shoved down your chest,

There's a clown with little makeup,
Painted in more than one face,
Guaranteed to bring upon a very silly race,
So send in the clowns,
Send in the clowns,
And if you think there will be a change,
Then you too are a clown,
With those same features upon your face

She was there,

She was there and then she wasn’t,

   We had time,

   If only for a moment,

I could feel her, touch her, smell her,

   She was mine,

   But as we know,

We only have a few moments in life,

   Time is a tool,

   That we’ll never really master,

Time is something that we always want to go faster,

   But only when we’re young,

   And oh so dumb,

To the fact that time is precious,

Down to the very last second,

I had her, for what felt like a century,

But in the span of time,

   We were only a memory
