I am the queen of what ifs
Sitting on a throne of could've beens

My fears are my loyal subjects
Escorting my dreams to the gallows

My ambitions are now prisoners
To my court of procrastination

I, the queen
Reign over all of this regret
May we never forget

I, The Queen ©

Little Bear
Meeting you today, after all these years.
Well my heart almost stopped.
I turned the corner and there you were,
with your beautiful little family.

I was stunned, they are all so beautiful... your children.
I just needed a moment to take it all in.
And that smile you gave me...
**** I didn't think it would take me back so many years...
just like that..

It must be 18.. no.. no 19 years..
You haven't changed,
not one bit..
not to me anyway.

You stood there, holding hands... so in love.
I was... I am.. so happy for you.
My first kiss... with you...was actually so perfect.
My first kiss... with you.

But you are married and happy.
Your children have their Daddy's dimples..
And their Mummy's blue eyes.
You are all so happy.. I love that.
I truly do, with all my heart.

And so as we said our goodbyes,
you looked at me.
Just for a moment too long.
I know you thought of it too, that kiss..
And I blushed.. **** it...
After all this time, you can still do that to me.

And as you walked away,
I watched you go...
I know I might never see you again.
But I will always remember my first kiss...
with you
That and your beautiful blue eyes.
My first real kiss was with a girl, we were best friends :o)

If only I were lonely
Maybe then you could hold me
Never looking for forever
Let us never lay together

Yada yada yada yay poetry!
I can't write out what I really mean to say
All I can bring myself to do is cry and cry
Until I am breathless.

And I am ashamed of what I have done
I hold the most regret in my heart and feel the pain of my choice every single day

I wonder what you would look like
And what you would laugh like
And of what color your eyes and hair would be

And I just don't understand how I could ever be forgiven.

I wish so desperately I could go back and choose differently.
I become so angry now when I hear women and men talk about abortion
I want to scream and cry until I am drained.
I hold my stomach and wish I hadn't been so selfish

I wish I could hold you, every minute, every day
I wish I had you sleeping beside me with a sister you would have loved so dearly
And she would have loved you more than anything.
She would have protected you... Which is what I should have done.

It's been a year and a half. You would have been one soon.
Maybe walking by now.
I wonder if you still grew, with God up in heaven with all of the other millions of children who should have been here.
I wonder if you can see me and my tears.

You still consume my thoughts
As if you made your bed there and are forever sleeping..

I will never make peace with the decision I made.
This is not meant to be a poem. It is not meant to be "beautifully written". There is nothing beautiful about the regret that I carry. I went to church today and the priest talked of abortion. He said "People wonder where the scientists are who will find the cure for cancer.  Where are the brilliant individuals who will create the cure for AIDS?  And God looks upon us and says: I have sent them to you, but you erase them away".

Not a day goes by that I don't wish I could go back.

I love you,
but I can't be with you.
It's not the distance.
It's not the time.
It's all in my mind.
I'm not stable.
I'm not pure.
You deserve the best.
You deserve more.
Sadly I can't give you that.
So, RIP to our memories,
and let them bring you no pain.
Someday you'll thank me.
For you'll never be the same.
You can do better,
and I've shown you that.
So goodbye and farewell.
I wish you all that you deserve.
