It is in waking moments, before thinking intrudes, that true happiness resides

With remnants of dreams still governing my reality, I fly, I love, I am invincible.

You are still in my waking world, we are still as one in my waking world!

i swirl in van gogh.
i am charcoal stains
on blue,
a smile of barbed wire
for the painter,
i am mona lisa, true.

monet, he paints me
calm waters,
water lilies floating
in solitude,
he doesn't see
the fire sprouting
in my veins.

picasso cannot stain
my heart with colour,
magritte cannot
create a masterpiece
out of my eyes.

to be immortalized
i beg in pink
lick the brush
and paint myself
alive.

end my days
in escher,
sketch myself
out of the stairway,
into the globe.

throw myself
at deaths eye,
kiss the canvas
rotten, ******,
*pretty.

A man once said, against his will,
that love has many names.
A woman nearby scoffed but, still,
She writhed within its flames.

Her  cries kept him awake at night,
He could not close his ears.
Resistance waned, and all his might,
Could not allay the fears.

He  called on favored demons,
Change is torture, all the same.
He called on angels, without reason,
Begging each by name.

It was, at once, surprise to none,
He kept the worst inside.
Surprise to all when it was done,
Her violent suicide.

Some hastily improvised verse.  I hate regular meter and rhyme, but this was a challenge to write something quickly, all at once, and use both.  Written over maybe a twenty minute period, though the final stanza was added a day later to wrap it up with something horrible.  JUST changed the gender pronoun in final line on a whim.  Don't know why, it just makes it more interesting, I think.  Yes?

Premise: Those who most vehemently fight the madness of love are often the most deeply and sincerely affected by it.

at one time, we were all migrants
we had a dream and tried to find it
the torch of freedom was our light of guidance
we might have died if our cries were silenced

their dream relies on our compliance
we can't decline the reasons behind it
hear their cries and let them find an alliance
they're just trying to escape the violence
America was built by migrants...i say, let them come...

he was the kind of boy her mama always warned her about
eyes full of mischief and words full of deceit
but, oh God, when he spoke it was as if the clouds would bow to him
& the mountains would crumble in his presence
the way he cocked his brow and gave her that sultry smile
sent her round and round as if she was on a never ending ride

he was like a bottle of sweet poison
addicting, even though it's bound to **** you in the end
she knew she'd never be able to look at him and see her future
but she saw in him her present and a world left unexplored
she knew how much she would be giving up
if she died without knowing if the lips which spoke the sweet words
tasted as good as the words themselves
she knew she would never be at rest in her grave
if she never felt the melody in his body combine with her own symphonies
running her hand down his spine, discovering the mysteries often left unsolved
she knew she would regret it if she let him open her book and read her
but a greater loss would be if she never read his

& so she gave in.

his eloquence was her personal brand of *****
and tonight she was intoxicated all the way up to cloud nine
his body in the moonlight was like crystal under the sun
she just couldn't look away
his nails carved words of wonder in her back
and his mouth tattooed poetry between her thighs
it felt to her as if the words he etched words on her body
were even better than those spoke on the stage beneath the spotlight

with eyes full of mirth and wonder
she looked at him like he was the only star in the night sky
no,
boys like him were beyond stars
*boys like him were galaxies
