Orange Rose
The evening sky is sea foam,
With the clouds a-flowing in.
The tide is turning nicely,
While the wind brings darkness in.

The earth keeps on a-spinning,
While the sky keeps it in shade.
How strange it is to see the sea,
From underneath the waves.

The bats are flying fishes,
The trees are coral reefs,
The fireflies are plankton,
All a-living down beneath.

But people have no purpose here,
Not in the ocean deep.
I know it’s time to travel back,
And wake up from my sleep.

poetessa diabolica
A spirited moon
   'neath furtive glances,
      anguished of despair
looked upon hushed
  entangled constellations
      and heeded a warning,
for he knew well of lavishing
    recherché intricacies,
mattered naught how exquisite
  nothing lasting could come
    of liaisons's effusive grandeur,
       'tween clandestine stargazers

I stand under dark skies
Close my eyes
And try to melt into the night
stars, the softest
prints, the watercolours
of the night, washed
in a rich green sea,
shining like prisms,
forgetful as the shadows of the moon
bold, restful bridge of the tide.

Work your magic across the sky
Midnight Moon, pearlescent queen
To your smile, my spirit flies
Through the clouds and mists pristine.

Drawn by your hypnotic glare
Proud Selene, eternally
Captured by your silver stare
And the spell you've put on me.

Pearly mistress, guide me home
To my castle by the sea
Blessed, these miles that I roam
Neath your shining mystery.

From the fires in my heart
With rhyming verse, I honor thee
Before the morning makes its start
Thou blazing orb of poetry.
one of several poems I've written dedicated to Luna...

Amitav Radiance
When you love the stars
More than the sun
And night becomes a safe haven
Moon becomes your companion
Lighting your path
You walk hand in hand with night
When you listen to the silence
More than the words spoken
The silver painted canvas
Gives you so many ideas
To paint with the colors of the night
Once a world hidden
Now you can see it clearly in moonlight
Radiant darkness bathes you
As the glorious night merges with you
Deep thoughts carve the mood
Somber moments of night
Regales you with no explanations

James Joyce
The twilight turns from amethyst
To deep and deeper blue,
The lamp fills with a pale green glow
The trees of the avenue.

The old piano plays an air,
Sedate and slow and gay;
She bends upon the yellow keys,
Her head inclines this way.

Shy thought and grave wide eyes and hands
That wander as they list -- -
The twilight turns to darker blue
With lights of amethyst.

Emily Bronte
The night is darkening round me,
The wild winds coldly blow;
But a tyrant spell has bound me
And I cannot, cannot go.

The giant trees are bending
Their bare boughs weighed with snow,
And the storm is fast descending
And yet I cannot go.

Clouds beyond clouds above me,
Wastes beyond wastes below;
But nothing drear can move me;
I will not, cannot go.

Evangeline Ashe
Black is the house of the great unknown
it is the absence of all light
its footmen creep to bathe in secrets
stretching their limbs as evening turns to night.
Black is the harrier of the loneliest souls
it is a hardening of the heart
it is the fears buried deepest
After all, you can't see shadows for the dark.

Night is when the darkness reigns
cloaking the world in sable
Night is when the balance shifts
to keep the cosmos stable
Night is when red foxtrot trots
to caper in the quiet
Night is when life lights itself
Sparks of murmur and of fire
Night is when new hunters stir
with hunger in their orb-like eyes
Night is when sweet nightingale
serenades the owl wise
Night is when she holds a candle to the window
the better to carry on
Night is when he locks the door behind
the sooner to be gone
Night is when heroes fill the sky
and angels walk among the sleeping
Night is when the echoes of day
replay and take on deeper meaning
Night is when the mind is free
to wander wordless realms anew
Night is when black is not black
but a hundred shades of blue.
