The Big Dipper
Dripped starlight
Into the silent
Dark pines.

Orion shot his
Arrow right on
Target into my
Cracked heart.

The Milky Way
Ceased to run its course
And instead
Spilled your name into the sky.

And still, the North Star
Kept on sparkling
Reminding me of
A stability like yours.

It was cloudless and
Moonless and the
Meteor showers were over
But not the hole in my chest.

The only hope I
Had left was that
Somewhere in the world
You saw the same stars.

Please do not judge my well being
By my physical pain.
My mind endures more daily
Than my body could endure
In thousands of lifetimes.

When the room was clear and stage was dark
I felt a pang inside my heart
As I looked to where you used to be
I sighed a familiar sigh

The sigh that knows your name
But does not need to utter the syllables
Because even if it is not said
It knows that I sigh for you
I cry for you
I'd lie for you
But I hide from you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
Every love song, in soprano
Serenades in smoky rooms
With low voices whispering in your ear
Soothing you into a trance
If you come closer, you can hear
My yearning voice for you
You can almost feel
My light touch across you dance

I compare stories of every love
I have ever heard
To our tale, in my mind
Like a kindergartner trying to cut out a picture
Based on a pattern held with stubby hands
I line the edges up just right and see what fits into us

Oh, I look around and hope you are there
To notice me
To think of me
To dream as I do
As if I were the only girl you had ever loved
The only girl you are capable of loving
The only girl you want
But what can I give you?

I've waited a long time
And I'm pretty sure I'd wait again
Because I'm your fool
A jester
That's performing only for your applause
For you to admire from the first row
To clap your hands and shout "Bravo!"

"I promise I'll never hurt you the way he did."

Oh baby, you kept that promise

You hurt me so much worse

Hello Haley
You have no idea

Thats what kills me
The silence that must be kept
And can't be spoken
Keep it deep inside
Never let it out
Or else something may happen
Something that turns the perspective you have upside down
The truth you know becomes a lie
Everything around you takes a step back
And re-examines who you are

You know how you were made
Who you were meant to be
How you're supposed to live
But life's getting in the way

The want to's are becoming have to's
And the have to's will change everything

You're not ready
You never will be
You don't want to be
You're following against everything you've come to know

Your heart wants it all
Your mind says stop

You always have been an intellectual

The battle between
darkness and depression
is onslaught for any troubled soul
for it takes place much deeper
than any dug out hole
This darkness seems to just find me
Takes over my world into my sanctuary
It settles around the iris of my eyes
Turning me into someone who just seems to cry
Rooted in negativity and lost in my pain
Through my eyes it enters my brain
Corrupting my each and every thought
Breeding unwelcome memories that like to haunt
Spreading now like poison through my veins
Trying to take over till nothing remains
Writing words is my only defense
When nothing else I do makes any sense
The power of prose keeps that place deep within me
Safe and free from this darkened toxicity…
Sometimes writing is the only way to get it out my crazy and I know that other people out there also suffer from darkness/depression so just trying to hopefully help others in the process

I am a transient man,
Just passing through

I will not be rich,
I will not be famous,
And beyond living memory
Of those who knew me,
I will not be recalled

I am a transient man,
Just passing through,
Never to return
