I write these poems,
while thinking of you.
I read yours and wonder,
"Does she think of me, too?"

Pacifier
Chad Williams Jul 2015
Sometimes I wish I was a baby again,
things just seem so simple.
Blissfully unaware of all the worry,
that can hide behind those dimples.

The most amazing thing about a baby,
is their ability to go.
Miserable to ecstatic,
before you even know.

The secret is their binky;
it's seemingly insignificant.
As long as it's in their mouth,
they couldn't feel more magnificent.

When it's with them,
they're in an oasis.
Free from all the problems,
that plague the rest of us.

When it's with them,
nothing else could matter.
All their problems disappear,
like a window when it shatters.
What's your pacifier?

Harbored
Chad Williams Jul 2015
I've heard boat owners are happiest the days they buy and sell their vessel.

What's the point?
Countless hours,
blood,
sweat,
and money go into it.
Yet no matter what they do, the boat still rusts.
Their "baby" still breaks down.
What keeps them coming back for more?

Is it the prospect of what's to come?
Living life on a boat sounds glamorous to me and you.
Ask a boat owner.
They'll tell you that being wet,
cold,
and sick is nothing glamorous.
That can't be it.

They won't tell you.
They won't tell you that owning a boat is a relationship.
A relationship that takes everything out of you,
and won't always give it back.
But when it does,
you realize it was worth every bit of it.

It will take some time to see it.
Underneath the rust,
that tattered sail,
those scarred hands,
is what you live for.
Within that harbor
is what permits you to live.

Try Try Try
Chad Williams Jul 2015
Success stems from many things;
persistence is one.
The only thing you have to do
is learn to overcome.

Don't run in fear from failure,
it does not seek to harm you.
It wants to see you do your best,
and then wants to reward you.

If you fail just know one thing...

you didn't.

The only thing you learned
was one way not to do your task.
Try
try
try again.
**This challenge, too, will pass.
Just thought I'd take a whack at something more positive!

Our Film
Chad Williams Jul 2015
When we're sitting in the theater,
watching the movie of the day.
All I want is to take her gentle hand,
and lead her far away.
Far away to where the reasons,
she said we could never be,
give way to the connection,
between her and me.

But I can't.

I can't because she said so;
she said it will never work.
She doomed it from the beginning,
because of all the irk.
All the irk that might happen,
if the "inevitable" does occur.
She wouldn't believe what I tell my friends,
when they ask me about her.

What she doesn't realize about me and her
is that things will never go cold.
But for now I'll just sit back, relax,
and watch our film unroll.

Crawling
Chad Williams Jul 2015
That one night now seems only like a dream.
The next day I woke up;
that overwhelming happiness was wiped clean.

Why is it that you say "I don't see you in that way"?
After all those other flings,
it's only I who stayed.

Tell me why you're so afraid of falling.
The bottom is so near;
there's no way you'll end up crawling...
My first go at writing :$
