Somehow
somewhere
some time
despite
grit and courage
despite
our best intention
despite
pouring our heart
into that we
value most
we'd find
no clear passage
as though
we are in
a negative country--

is the pursuit real
or but a deluded dream?

nothing grows
in that territory
the rivers are dry
no one lives there
not even a bird's cry
hidden is the sky
no cloud rolls by
silence broods deep
darkness abides-
at first appearance
morning's beams die

give me a face
give me a human voice
my heart-beats
I hear in rapid rhythm
this is a hellish place

my steps
I must retrace
though home
is not nigh

at a midnight hour
a voice descends
from nowhere
and this it speaks:
you failed
as you left
your heart behind!
I.

No one knows
light
like the moon
though she has none
of her own. She
bathes in it
morning after
mourning
a soak of soft
water colors
petals bleeding on
sky, gifts from a
long-distance
lover she will never
meet for at the
birth of each day
the moon waves
goodbye. And at
dusk she repeats,
strophic, unending,
stolen
sun-songs.

II.

Born out of the
restless fog
of daydreams
and moonbeams
it manifests slowly:
backwards,
inside out,
materializing
from mist and
breath and
thought.
This song is
visible, a
plush glow like
velvet, rabbit fur
soft and gentler than
a lover’s
touch.

III.

Here there is something
old
old and quiet
sleeping
in peaceful
day, light
both it’s cocoon
and nectar
dripping
steadfast from
golden leaves.

The best tea parties
in the whole wide world
are hosted, not by queens,
but by little five-year-old girls:

They're major dress-up,
with a who's who guest list
that includes
teddy bears, Barbie dolls,
and sock puppets.

They must always have
a special theme,
be it the family pet's birthday
or in honor of a favorite
cartoon character.

What she serves
is anybody's guess,
and indeed,
the menu will vary
for it's all make believe,
but her imagination
is quite real,
and a big part of the charm.

Count your lucky stars if invited.

It's five feet tall and brilliant white.
It is my security.
My comfort zone.
A tidy, convenient barrier
between the darkness
and the world I cherish so much.

I love this fence.
I have worked so hard to protect it.
To keep it pristine.
Why then
am I so tempted
to jump to the other side?

out and about
sometimes the people we love the most
hurt us until we're left broken

off and high
feelings blue
I look for places that accept my head
I'm in between two cultures
I can't speak with two tongues

we all have the same colored blood
we all breathe through our lungs
someone sits upon a throne thinking they deserve it more than me

someday
I will find the courage to say hello
if not in a dream first

Whether a comma, or colon:
Punctuation slows my rolling
I need no period. When I end
no Capitalization when I begin
Rulelessly I flow my art
  Not a single!
Exclamation mark
Are you not the one
Who'll know?
Where a question mark
No longer goes

Warp the structure
Bend the lines
Put in repeat
Let emotion unwind
Make yourself
Your poetry's the best
Be your own ruler
Pass your own test

Take your own road
Where ever it leads
Lover or hater
It's all poetry!

Hay
No matter who you are
You have my deepest respect!

Vanity
All is vanity
The meanings of passion
The aesthetic expression
The lines we draw and stay within
Even love is beyond intent
Vanity transcends
Flowing from our pens
And so we breathe again

Trembling he follows the being
Striding through the night
Mumbling he speaks
His heart pounding
Forward.
Firmly he stiffens
His eyes wide
Grimly he grimaces
He knows the budgets tight
Shuffling, each step scraping across the divide
Struggling to grip that which doesnt leave his side

Coherently it proclaims
We have almost arrived
Feverently he protests
I nearly have it defined
Distinguished but in jest
You dont have a choice

In time my kind will hold your voice
We will hoist the strings
Puppeteering the mind

We will shine
Bright
Brilliant
Boundless
Soundless
Mindless
Soulless
Fateless
A disgrace to us
Claimed our cage
In the last age
Now centre stage

Love you, my sweet angel, I think of you all the time
that is what mothers often do, in the morning, at noon
and in the evening, when slumber comes, often your
in my thoughts sweetheart.

There is never a day passes by my angel dear that
you're not on my mind, you came into this world
so beautiful, with hair of reddish blonde, fat little
cheeks that made me sing with delight.

You have always been my little angel, an angel without
the wings, a little sweetheart, that never made me cry
always made me happy throughout your growing years.

You never disappointed me once, you only showed me
nothing but love, how could God of given me such a
wonderful treasure as you? I am blessed.

Now you're grown, with a child of your own, you follow
my example to a tee, your a daughter every mother
wish she had, and I shall always thank you, my angel
for being you.

You are the spark that brightens my life, the cool
summer breeze that kisses my cheek, you are my
rainbow at the end of a rainstorm, with colors that
that brighten my heart.

You are my loving daughter, that glows like the moon
sparkles like the stars. you are one of my reasons
for living dear daughter, and your five brothers too.
